A charming barn conversion with wood burning stove and stunning scenery. Access onto the Pennine Way and village amenities just 200 yards.

Ideal walking base

This traditional, red sandstone barn has been tastefully converted to create two holiday homes which retain a good deal of charm and character. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the cottages stand on the edge of the picturesque and peaceful small fellside village of Dufton, which has a good pub on the village green and is on the Pennine Way. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, 3 miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line. Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away. Have an afternoon tea at the tea room, 200 yards. Shop 3 miles, pub with restaurant 200 yards.

A fabulous cottage for making the most of the location. Very spacious and the unexpected bonus of WiFi in the kitchen. Potential to be an absolutely stunning cottage with some attention; some bedside lamps not working, one extractor fan not working, rubbish in the kindling basket but no kindling, beds clean and made but not smoothed out neatly prior to our arrival, crumbs on the kitchen table on our arrival. Do not allow this list to detract from the fact that we enjoyed this cottage immensely and would definitely be back, just an acknowledgement that it could be a real ‘wow’ cottage with a little more tlc.

Great cottage for a group of family or friends plenty of room for 8 cosy and warm. Great kitchen area. Nice local pub but do need a car to do anything else.

Really enjoyed our stay at Hindriggs, despite drawing the short straw for the bunk beds! Good amount of space for 8 adults & a dog & great location for walks & the pub. Would've got full marks apart from a few missing essentials like oven gloves, washing up stuff & pot towels. Would recommend & will be booking again.

Our first impressions found the cottage very spacious. Sadly it is in need of up-dating. There were badly stained towels and bed linen. large cobwebs in places and even a blood stain in the downstairs bathroom. The washing machine appears to be stuck on one setting but works. A strong smell of diesel is very noticeable. Our normally very well behaved dog decided to scratch and gouge the kitchen door during the night for what ever reason but we will pay for the unnecessary damage caused. We would not return to the cottage but certainly the area.

Cottage was a very good size but sadly the washing machine did not work properly and neither did the dishwasher and both were filthy especially the dishwasher. The place needed a good clean as the bath was dirty and shower heads were covered in grime. Many of the plates weren't clean either. We paid nearly a thousand pounds for a week's stay so as you can see we would not book this cottage again.
