This family friendly, terraced cottage is well equipped and provides an excellent base from which to explore the Western Lakes and the Cumbrian coastline. Catbells is located on the fringe of the Lake District National Park, close to the village of Frizington. Within a mile you have convenience stores, local pubs and shops. Within 5 miles you have the major town of Whitehaven with major supermarkets, a golf club, public swimming pool, a lovely harbour with a selection of restaurants and bars, and fantastic cliffside walks, perfect for exercising your dogs.
A short drive to the Lake District National Park, 4 miles, brings an abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains, and lakes. Your nearest lake is Ennerdale Water, which is 5 miles away. Ennerdale is regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of the Lake District and is full of wildlife including red squirrels, osprey and buzzards. Loweswater is just 10 miles away which leads to Crummock Water and then Buttermere. This scenic loop is a beautiful drive with stunning scenery all the way via the Honister Pass to Keswick. The scenery around this part of The Lakes is stunning, and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are a sight to behold. Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk or a serious climb, you’ve got a great base to start your adventures.

Head south for a trip on La’al Ratty, the famous Cumbrian miniature railway line between Ravenglass to Dalegarth, for a great family day out. Or if you’re feeling energetic, you’re just a 30-minute drive to Wast Water and Wasdale Head, giving you the shortest and most direct route to the summit of the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike.
