Was very warm and cosy with the wood burner. Beautiful old cottage with stunning views. Loved the creaky old stairs. Would definitely go back. X

Cottage disappointing. Musty smell on arrival. Cottage furniture dusty n cobwebs. Dog hair on carpet. Fridge hasn't been cleaned at all. Split milk n old food. No welcome pack or flowers. At the price charged would have expected this. Septic tank stank. Needs a good dead clean !

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; This is the second expression of concern I have had recently about the standard of cleanliness, not something that has ever happened before. It transpires that my regular caretaker had offered some work to another lady which included Little Knott. She has also received complaints about this lady’s standard of work at other premises as a result of which she has already terminated the arrangement. She has offered to spend more time at Little Knott this week prior to our next guests arrival and I am sure that will solve the problem of cleanliness. As far as the septic tank is concerned, this is a new complaint and I will need to have someone examine it because it was serviced, emptied and checked a few months ago and pronounced fit for purpose. It may be that the recent spell of weather has had an impact but, after having it examined once more. I can confirm the septic tank smell was not from that source at all. Speaking to neighbours it is clear that the local farmer was spreading slurry nearby during that week and it was that activity which generated the complaint. Unfortunately the cottage sits in the countryside adjacent to open fields and these things do happen occasionally.
