Private and rurally situated on a working farm at the northern tip of Lake Ullswater. Fantastic for walkers and watersport enthusiasts.

Minutes from Lake Ullswater

Barton Hall Farm can be found just outside Pooley Bridge, the village at the outfall of Lake Ullswater. Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm, this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater, with its walking, water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation, whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings; and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers, along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation, wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking, fells nearby include High Street range, 1 mile, and Helvellyn, 10 miles. The market town of Penrith, 5 miles; whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops, pubs and restaurants ½ mile.

Living room: With wood burner, TV, DVD player, CD player, beams and wooden floor.

If you are looking for a great base for a walking holiday, then this is it. It is comfortable and roomy for two people. It is warm (we went in February), and Amanda the owner was friendly and welcoming. There are some really good walks close by. We had a really good week. If I was to be picky, the kitchen equipment lets the cottage down a bit, but all in all, very good value for money.

A lovely, pet-friendly cottage, nicely located close to Pooley Bridge with its associated amenities, yet sufficiently far from the village to avoid the worst of the crowds. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

A lovely place to stay only half a mile walk to Pooley Bridge. A really homely place to stay with fresh cakes to greet you on arrival and flowers. A brilliant place to stay will definitely return.

Cottage is on a working farm (cattle /sheep). In a quiet location set back from the road(not busy). Has central heating throughout, and also a log burner in the sitting room. Pooley Bridge is about 1/2 a mile or so away, a few shops, pubs etc. plus lake steamer pier. I felt the cottage was good value. There is a local bus which passes the farm.

Stable Cottage is one of three cottages at Barton Hall Farm near Pooley Bridge. It is a homely, comfortable and warm cottage with lovely views across fields and fells to the mountains. Facilities are as described with a very useful utility room for washing and drying, as well as a 'dog shower' if needed! The owners, Amanda and Nigel, are very welcoming and always available if needed. The area is a very good base for walking and touring. The Ullswater Way can be accessed from the cottage, and its only a few miles to the A66 to reach other areas of the Lakes such as Keswick and the Western Lakes.
