Better for a sunny summer than a wet autumn. Outdoor space reasonable with pretty backdrop, good location for town and amenities. Well equipped ground floor with fully adjustable heating and gas fire too which was wonderful and well used. Kitchen was well equipped also and there is space for up to four visitors allbeit cosy and that's the point of little a cottage really. On the down side we got locked inside for 30 minutes on arrival because of a faulty front door and the big muddy puddle really needs attention as the dirt is genuinely an inch deep. It's above the level of the sturdy rubber lattice mat - as was the water on a few occasions too sadly. You drag all the mud inside then clean and clean the carpet. Strong smell of gas at front door too which of course we reported to the operator so hopefully both that and the door will be fixed now. Take great care on the bin area to the rear when wet; it's lethally slippy. No issues in the dry thankfully. We didn't find the cottage quite as clean as we expected with dirty utensils (especially the baking trays which should be thrown away) and I had to wash the dirty bathroom walls down. The majority is clean; it's the detailing that's missing. Seven or eight out of ten would be a fair score I think. TV for those dark wet nights was so small I couldn't read anything on screen and we both found that very frustrating. It may be 20"? Upstairs is a mixed bag. Good strong hot water and there being two toilets was a real boost but it's the land that time forgot. Beds are old with low quality, soft and uncomfortable mattresses and the washing machine on the first floor, which as cyclist's and walkers was a real attraction of the cottage for us, wouldn't spin properly nor dry clothes. The front fell off when we opened the filthy powder drawer (totally filthy) and on checking up it's at least 20 years old. Do not expect to use it, it just heats soaking wet clothes so it's pointless. If your bones are a bit stiff don't expect a good night's sleep. I gave 4/10 on comfort and equipment. In the summer the negatives above will undoubtedly be less of a factor but the cottage no longer meets its rating and you should think three star here. Of four stays in Keswick in the past two years sadly this was the poorest value for money we've experienced. I note with excitement however that with a little more attention to cleaning and a 21'st century refurb the cottage would be fantastic. Right now it's the poor cousin of similar properties in Keswick so 7/10 is our rating and I'm certain you could do a lot worse when you consider you can park right in front (it's tight mind you) and have usable, pretty outside space. Space is communal and I know cottage 3 allows pets. Hope this is helpful.

A very pretty cottage in a great location. At the back of. The cottage sits a river which we enjoyed swimming and paddling in. At the front is a road which leads to parks, shops, a garage which was expensive but convenient, a pub and restaurants, all within walking distance. The cottage it’s self was small and cosy. I was not a huge fan of the third floor attack room but my two boys loved it! We had a fantastic week filled with activities and a mixture of weathers, we will be coming back.

Bobbin Cottage is on a lovely spot back from the road but alongside the river Greta. We weren't aware that the back yard was not private so your table and chairs are alongside several others belonging to the other cottages with no division between, and although the setting is lovely you cannot see the river unless you sit on a high wall. However, we enjoyed the sound of it rushing down during the week. The kitchen is well equipped and lounge-diner comfortable. The children found their top room beds comfy, but the upper floors are probably now due an update. Everything was functional but the shower unit is pretty basic. We enjoyed our stay as we love Keswick so much, but compared with much of the modernised accommodation we have booked over the years this was quite old-fashioned. BUT clean and tidy and meets your needs with dishwasher, washing machine etc.
