The Mains is a lovely cottage and the owners who live next door are very welcoming and friendly, but not intrusive, and provide everything needed for a great holiday. The Aga kept the cottage very warm and provided plenty of hot water as it was on all the time. We didn't get chance to explore the garden or summer house as we were out all day walking fells but it is pretty. We didn't explore cooking on the Aga for the same reason but the instructions are there and it seemed simple enough to use. The village is very quiet yet near enough to get to the main roads to go anywhere. We arrived in pouring rain and it rained all the next day so some of the little roads around Ullswater were flooded but floods disappeared and the rest of the week was fine. All in all a great holiday.

We had a wonderful time. The weather was very kind to us even though it was the start of October, we would love to return to The Main.

Our second stay at "The Mains" and once again we had a great week. The cottage is lovely and there's a great pub in the village that sells "real ale" and does great food. The location is brilliant for exploring the area and there are loads of places to visit without having to drive for hours!

Nice cottage; in the hot summer weather the Aga was pretty warm! The garden across the lane with its summer house was delightful. Charming well tended garden. We wouldn't book there again, but only because we always prefer to visit somewhere new.

This is a beautiful cottage with quality furnishings and Elizabeth and Ted are so friendly and welcoming. We’re really looking forward to returning and hopefully (weather permitting) to enjoy your lovely garden and summer house ! Thank you for making this such a lovely holiday 😊, Patrick & Lynda
