Situated in Broughton-in-Furness, this holiday cottage is the perfect place from which to explore the Lake District.

Brock Cottage is an idyllic base from which to explore the Lake District. Nestled in the small ancient market town of Broughton-in-Furness, this romantic holiday cottage is perfectly situated for car-free evening dining after days out exploring this picturesque area. The Duddon Valley, honoured by Wordsworth, is on the doorstep, with Coniston, Ambleside and Windermere a short drive away. Broughton, with its Georgian square complete with stocks, has a butcher, delicatessen and bakery all specialising in local produce. Mountain biking, walking, horse riding, fishing, sailing and cruising the lakes are all eminently accessible. Dating back to the 1750s, the cottage is located in one of the best surviving examples of a cobbled courtyard, formerly named Sutney Square. The rear seating area has views over neighbouring gardens and to Broughton Tower parkland beyond. Beautiful area, lots of exploring, homely, warm cottage to return back to, a bonus that it's dog friendly too.

We enjoyed our stay at Brock Cottage. It suited the two of us and our dog, and was clean and tidy on arrival. We used two of the pubs in town and the grocery store and bakery/cake shop. We can recommend them all. Brock Cottage was close to the sites and lakes so a good base to explore from. The locals were friendly and welcoming with lots of walks nearby. We recommend this cottage.

Had a very enjoyable week at Brock cottage which was perfectly located for walking and touring and great for walking to the pub in the evening. Cottage was comfortable, beds exceptionally so. We would have preferred a tumble drier to a dishwasher in the kitchen as when we hooked the outside line up to the opposite wall to dry clothes under the arch the neighbour complained, drying clothes could be a problem if you are getting a soaking every day! Water could have been hotter also. The addition of a couple of baking trays would be useful.

Lovely cottage with everything you need, clean, cosy, comfy beds and a fabulous open fire. Village has some great shops and pubs and is in a fantastic location. Would definitely like to visit again.

We were unlucky to be staying here during a really cold snap in February and found it really difficult to warm the cottage through. This may be because the cottage was unoccupied the week before we visited as other visitors have commented how cosy it is! On the plus side the cottage is really dog friendly with walking close to the cottage, and food in the local pub was excellent. We also appreciated the Smart TV and the ample supply of hot water.
