Situated besides the picturesque River Duddon, one of Wordsworth’s favourite places, Whistling Green allows easy access to the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. This comfortable wing of the owner’s traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, set in half an acre of shared grounds, is surrounded by open moorland with grazing sheep and wonderful views up the valley. The area offers fell walking, sailing and riding at Coniston, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and an exhilarating drive over Hardknott Pass to visit the Roman Fort and much more. Families will enjoy the sand and shingle beach at Silecroft (8 miles). Shop ½ mile, a local pub serving excellent food 3 miles up the valley.

    An excellent cottage in a very lovely part of the world. Lovely friendly owners and very helpful.

    We loved Whistling Green. Lovely views from every window. Warm and comfortable and enjoyed the log fire. Walks direct from cottage and good location for visits to Lakes and other villages/ towns. Loved the close proximity of the Herdwick sheep, literally on the doorstep and although we are from the countryside we were all quite taken with these sheep. Bird feeders were full and all kinds of birds to watch from the main big window. The shower could do with having a bit more oomph, but a minor thing.Very enjoyable stay in a lovely area of The Lakes.
