I have thought long and hard about this review as I wanted to be fair. On arrival the property looked ok and we were met with the owner who was welcoming and showed us into the cottage. She explained about the hot tub etc. and where was nice to visit which was lovely. After she left we settled into the cottage but when I went to the bathroom I did find that it had not been cleaned and there was a lot of hair on the floor and by the towel rail. The toilet had also not been cleaned and had urine etc. round the seat. I was able to clean this as products were left under the sink but as you can imagine I was rather put off having to start cleaning on the first hour of my holiday. Whilst I was cleaning the toilet my husband found that the oven had also not been cleaned and had old food and congealed fat on the grill obviously from the previous guests. As you can appreciate I was rather upset but we did not mention this to the owner as I just wanted to enjoy the holiday, besides what would she have done, got on her hands and knees in front of me to clean it!! A couple of days into the holiday the owner mentioned to my husband that the remote control eye for the T.V. in the bedroom would need to be changed at some point but said nothing else as we were going out for the day. However when we returned to the cottage we found that the owner had let in someone to change it without us being there. I did feel this was unnecessary and potentially could have had legal ramifications as our personal possessions were in the cottage. Another cause for concern were the approx 9 ferral cats which roamed everywhere and this also meant them using anywhere as a toilet. We did have to dodge a few presents left for us around where the car was parked. Unfortunately this happened on the path down to the hot tub which I did not see in the dark and managed to step in which was particularly disgusting. So note for anyone visiting the hot tub WEAR FLIP FLOPS!!! not least the gravel on the path cuts your feet to pieces. I feel this cottage maybe too much for the owner to handle and would recommend a professional cleaner and a call to the RSPCA to manage the cat situation. I appreciate that this may seem quite negative but feel these points need to be raised as I have not experienced this before in any of the cottages we have stayed in the 10+ years we have holidayed in these cottages

Perfect place to get away from it all. Hot Tub was great. Wifi was a bit hit and miss towards the end but that was mainly due to remote location. Would def come again :)

We arrived at the cottage rather late and had already eaten so we just got into bed. The next morning we were fairly disappointed to find every glass in the cupboard dirty and 1 champagne glass, so we had to go and buy more, where the teas and coffee were was filthy with crumbs and dirt, cobwebs hanging from the lights and in the corners. The hot tub is a lovely facility even with stones in there!! The owner was lovely however rather short with us when we handed the keys back. We placed all the rubbish in 1 bag we would of put it in the bin under the sink but the previous guests rubbish was still in there and it was full! It's a lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings just needs a good clean and the damp smell sorting out. I would recommend it and hopefully the owner will take on board my constructive criticism as it's just laziness that could sort this problem out. Zazu's Kitchen is a lovely place to eat out at highly recommend!

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. Firstly I don't supply champagne glasses. The one in the cupboard was left by previous guests. I check the glass wear regularly for damage etc. and if anything is dirty I rewash it. The rubbish left in the bin is something I always check and remove, including anything in the bathroom and litter bins. If I didn't this time it was an oversight and one not to be repeated. I can only apologise. The hot tub is maintained every fortnight by Lakeside Spas. I wasn't aware that I was short with this guest when they left; I just assumed that as her partner was sitting in the car with the engine running they did not want to chat. I do seem to have an ongoing battle with spiders and although I do go round with a feather duster every time I have guests, they must make more webs as soon as my back is turned.

Great time would stay again, clean warm and friendly. To many cats and the path to the hot tub needs lighting up. Take flip flops for the decking area

Lovely stay. The cottage was wonderful, hot tub was perfect. Would definitely stay there again. Hopefully make it a yearly trip. The host was such a lovely woman. We didn't drive so on the first day she kindly went out of her way to take us food shopping. Only comment would be that the hot tub area could do with a little extra lighting. Other than that truly wonderful.

Lovely and quiet. Be prepared for steep country lanes and isolation. Shops etc are a drive away. Hot tub was wonderful. Helpful, friendly owner around but not intrusive. Good location to explore N. Somerset.

We enjoyed the piece and quiet of the rural surroundings especially whilst laying back in the Hot tub. The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The owner was very friendly and always helpful with answering our questions.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very quiet and secluded. Warm welcome from host. Cottage quite small, but adequate for our needs. Needed a spring clean, which the owner is aware of. Hot tub secluded and accessed via door from bedroom, through garden. Outside patio in sun most of day. Hope you like cats, as there are plenty around, but not bothersome. Access can be tricky if you don't like country roads, but well worth a visit.
