Description

Enjoy many activities from this property, including coastal walks, bird watching, fishing and golf.

Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Craster, half way along the Heritage Coast, this beautiful, old stone, fisherman’s cottage, which dates back to 1906 and has a comfortable interior, stands peacefully, close to the tiny harbour. A wonderful coastal walk leads to the dramatic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle and onto Embleton, once voted in the top 10 walks in the country. Porthole provides an excellent location for touring, bird watching, walking, fishing and golf. The famous Craster kipper curing sheds and seafood restaurant are just 70 yards away. The friendly village pub and local tea rooms are only 100 yards, so leave your car behind and stroll over to mix with the locals in what is reputedly the friendliest and most unpopulated county in England. Shop 100 yards.

My friends and I had a lovely holiday in Northumberland. The cottage was very comfortable, although my room was on the top floor and the shower room was quite small with little space for toiletries. The bathroom on the first floor was more roomy. Comfy beds and very clean linen. Kitchen very well equipped.

Very comfortable and clean; lovely to be able to walk to Dunstanburgh Castle and Howick Hall from the house and our week was greatly enjoyed, albeit helped by continuously sunny weather. The location is ideally situated for visiting places of interest up and down the coast of Northumberland. Make sure you visit the Farne Islands.

Lovely well equipped cottage in a fantastic harbor front location. I loved the large farmhouse kitchen table and all the extra crockery and cutlery was really useful. The beds were very comfortable. The highlight of our holiday was watching a pod of dolphins swim up the bay and we had wonderful fish and seafood in The Jolly Fisherman and the Craster Seafood Restaurant. Will definitely stay here again.

We had a fabulous time at Port Hole. The views over the harbour were amazing, the cottage had everything, absolutely everything, you could possibly need and the beds were very comfortable. There were lovely walks straight from the front door and so much to do in the area - in fact I wish I was back there right now! We had a wonderful week and went away with very fond memories of a special place.

We thought the cottage was very well equipped. We loved sitting around the large dining table. I would have liked a full length mirror, just for the final check before going out. We loved all the storage space. The bed was comfortable, just a little small. But we are used to a king size.
