We really enjoyed our stay at East Bridge End Farm, which makes a good base for bird watching and local walks, as well as exploring the Durham Dales. The cottage is in an isolated position (up a narrow grass track and through three farm gates) but still close enough to Frosterley to walk to the pub. We had good weather, so this wasn't a problem. Could get quite muddy if wet. Lots of sheep, rabbits and jackdaws. Cottage is spacious and well kept. Only minor problem is that the couch is not very comfortable and it's easy to stub your toes on the feet.

We have been staying at East Bridge End Farm for the last 4 years. The reason we keep returning is because we absolutely love the location of the property. It is set in the middle of the countryside, with great views, it is very private (you have to go up a track to reach it through a couple of field gates), and has great walks from the door and a lovely pub approx. 10 mins walk. There is so much to do/ see in the area - Weardale and Teesdale are beautiful and further afield such as the Durham Heritage Coast is well worth a visit. We find new places to visit each year! We feel we need to address some of the negative comments that have previously been posted - yes there are some aspects of the cottage that could do with updating - a new mattress and a new settee would be lovely as would a larger TV. However we would point out that for the price paid the cottage is exceptional value for money given the location. Yes there is a small site well below the cottage that has some static caravans - no it does not spoil the view. If you enjoy nature - this is definitely a great place to stay, there are lots of birds - so take some bird feeders to put out in the garden and you can watch them whilst eating your breakfast!

This was our fourth visit and rather spoiled by recent rainfall. Even our Jeep got stuck in the mud at the front of the cottage and the walks from the door that we had enjoyed on previous occasions were too boggy and treacherous to attempt. This meant we were rather confined. The cottage could do with better lighting downstairs and there is a smell of damp in the kitchen / dining room but otherwise we were comfortable and it was a good bolt hole.
