Find cottages in Scarborough

Scarborough combines a traditional seaside holiday with plenty of great day-out opportunities amongst beautiful coast, moors and forests.

If you’re looking for clean, safe sandy beaches, lots of seaside family-friendly fun and easy access to both coast and countryside, Scarborough is for you.

Scarborough has welcomed visitors for more than 360 years and is as popular as ever. The view from Scarborough Castle is well worth the climb, but if you prefer to explore without the exertion hop aboard the miniature North Bay Railway, it was built in 1931 and runs between Peasholm Park and Scalby Mills stations.

Divided by the Castle Headland, Scarborough''s North and South Bays have something for everyone. The busier South Bay has a sheltered sandy beach ideal for family bathing and sand castles, while the quieter North Bay has Blue-Flag status. Cayton Bay Beach lies just outside Scarborough and provides a relaxing environment in which to enjoy the coast.

The town has a number of fine parks and gardens including South Cliff Gardens and Peasholm Park; this extensive park has an impressive Japanese-style pagoda and a boating lake which, in the summer months, puts on miniature naval battles with small replica ships; great fun for the children.

If you want to explore the region the North York Moors National Park is a short distance inland as is Dalby Forest; both ideal for great days out.

A cottage break here allows you to enjoy a truly traditional seaside holiday in Britain’s ''first'' seaside resort. For accommodation see our selection of Scarborough holiday cottages.
