The North and South Bay are very different yet each has its own charm and wonderful large sandy beaches. Families love the traditional feel of Scarborough with plenty for the children to do from donkey rides, building sandcastles, amusements, mini golf and the Sea Life Centre. Don’t forget Peasholm Park where you can hire pedalos and rowing boats to go around the lakes. They also do a miniature re-enactment of a sea battle which has entertained families for many years.
For the adults there are some excellent restaurants within walking distance of the properties, and there’s the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Sir Alan Aykbourn’s world premiere plays. The largest open air theatre in Europe is here in Scarborough with fantastic international acts throughout the summer. Scarborough Spa provides excellent entertainment throughout the year and the Spa Orchestra perform on the scenic sun terrace in the summer. Scarborough forms part of the Cleveland Way so for those walkers amongst you there are some fantastic walks right on your doorstep. The smaller resorts of Filey and Flamborough Head are just down the coast as well as the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton where you will find puffins in their natural habitat. Heading north there’s Whitby with its busy working harbour and cobbled streets full of charm and character, it’s definitely worth a visit. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and Castle Howard, Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Sewerby Hall are all within a short distance. Beach 400 yards. Shop and pub 600 yards, restaurant 300 yards.
