Stepping Gate Cottage was a perfect base from which to explore the Yorkshire coast and inland. The accommodation is very comfortable with everything you could want for a stay. Judith and David are extremely helpful and friendly.

A lovely location and great cottage. Road in needs a little attention but when you get there it’s worth it. Great base for walks and relaxing evenings.

Lovely one storey cottage just for the two of us. We arrived in snow and it was really cold but the owners had put the heating onto max ready for our arrival and provided extra heaters, electric balnkets in case we felt chilly. It was a nice walk down into the village where there is a shop, a lovely tea room and pubs. An easy drive in Scarborough. Previous holidaymakers have mentioned about the roughness of the long track up to the cottage but we didnt have a problem and thought it was about to be repaired. We saw some hardcore had been delivered in bags to fill the potholes. There was a brand new carpet just laid which had yet to bed in. Everyhing was very clean and the bed was well made up and comfy. Everything we needed was there although perhaps in view of the snow and freezing weather maybe a welcome tray with T bags etc for a hot drink on arrival would have been a nice touch (there was a bottle of wine though to relax with over dinner). There wasnt a washing machine in the cottage and although there was an open offer to do our washing I didnt really feel that I wanted to hand over a bagof dirty laundry for someone else to do. I wasnt comfortable with that.
