This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

This single-storey barn conversion is surrounded by meadows and countryside, yet lies just 5 miles from the beach and a short drive from Newport.

Located in the beautiful Bowcombe Valley these former stables adjacent to the owners’ own home have been converted to provide an extremely well-presented, single-storey holiday home. Flint Cottage can sleep up to 4 people and offers it guests stylish and comfortable accommodation which further benefits from allocated off road parking, private garden and patio area. Surrounded by countryside views, Flint Cottage really is the perfect retreat. The quaint village of Shorwell with its characterful thatched cottages, local shop and excellent family public house is close by. Whilst within a 10-minute drive in the other direction is the larger town of Newport, with its array of restaurants, shops and multiplex cinema, there is a bus stop just a short distance from the property where you can catch a bus in either direction.
The island has become a real hot spot for cycling and walking enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines. You can choose to take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee, travel along the route at a more leisurely pace, and along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés, amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. Seashore and cliff walks showcasing stunning scenery can be found along the coastal paths and outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf.
There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages on this beautiful sunny island. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see and is a short distance away to the west, with its chair lift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Why not pay a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and gardens, or perhaps Blackgang Chine which is the oldest themed attraction in the UK, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Tapnell Farm Park, Carisbrooke Castle or the world renowned sailing town of Cowes. Whatever you decide, one things for sure, the Isle of Wight has plenty to offer for everyone. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

A comfortable cottage with good parking and easy access. It is quite small and, I would think, not really big enough for 4 adults. There is one sofa and one armchair, so not 'comfortable' seating for 4 people without moving a chair from the bedroom, although there is not actually space to put another chair. Also, with three adults we needed to pull the dining table away from the wall every meal time for us all to sit together. Overall it is comfortable and well decorated although there were a coupleof 'niggles' in the kitchen such as the lack of a baking tray, which makes putting items in and out of the oven more difficult and a toaster that only takes small bread slices. The cottage is a good location on the island and although it is on a main road it is fairly quiet.

Very nice cottage. A place to dry enough towels for 4 adults would have been helpful. The shower tended to be too hot or too cold as settings would not allow fine tuning. All in all very nice though.

Beautiful little cottage in a beautiful setting! We had a very warm welcome and a lovely cool bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival which was greatly appreciated! We were very comfortable in Flint Cottage, if a little hot at night, but we were staying during hot weather! Cottage well kitted out and owner very happy to be contacted if we had any problems (which we didn’t but it was good to know!) and even offered to do some washing! Situated in a lovely, quieter part of the Island which suited us perfectly. Our boys enjoyed the stay so much our youngest has asked to come back for his birthday! Thanks for a lovely holiday!

This was our second visit to Flint cottage and we had an excellent week away. Standards remain high in the cottage and it was very clean and tidy. No DVD player or dishwasher but not needed for our stay as the weather was perfect and we were out all day. There is an excellent local pub under new ownership. We ate there twice on recommendation from our very helpful hosts. You are not at all far from all the beaches and villages. Don't miss Godshill and the model village. Cowes and Yarmouth are great favourites too.

A lovely, clean and well furnished cottage! We were made to feel most welcome by the owners and they were most helpful when needed.

The hot water should have been on a timer using overnight electric. the double bed was THE most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in. The outside light stayed on for approx. 30 seconds, so constantly plunging you into darkness. The electric shower was not very powerful The shelf below the bathroom mirror, above the wash basin, was too close to the basin to be able to have a wash. We constantly banged our heads on the shelf.
