This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Nestled moments from the coastal path, Beech Cottage provides the perfect seaside retreat for a small family or friends alike.

This lovely, bright and airy, semi-detached holiday cottage, with lovely sea views from many of the rooms, nestles just moments away from the coastal path and is set adjacent to the owner’s home, in the peace and tranquillity of this southern part of the island, with its own micro-climate of good weather. Guests have further access to tiered terraces and sitting-out areas with far reaching sea views, by arrangement with the owner. Although a super bolthole away from any hustle and bustle, this property is a 5-minute drive from the cosmopolitan town of Ventnor, with its popular shingle and sandy beach, where freshly caught fish of the day can be purchased at the marina. Blackgang Chine is nearby, the oldest themed attraction in the UK, and also within easy reach are the Needles and Alum Bay. Other attractions include Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Pearl, Dinosaur Isle, a donkey sanctuary and Calbourne Water Mill, which has a 17th-century working watermill. Osborne House and Gardens (Queen Victoria’s holiday residence), and Carisbrooke Castle are a short distance away. The sailing towns of Yarmouth and Cowes, and the popular resorts and Shanklin and Sandown are nearby. The island can be explored from the open-top buses that stop regularly at various collection points. Beach 300 yards. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Ground floor: Living/dining room. Kitchen. Separate toilet. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 bunk. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Economy 7 NSH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. Stereo/CD/iPod dock. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Small, enclosed lawned garden with patio, terrace, sitting-out area and furniture. On road parking. Welcome pack. No smoking.

If you are looking for complete peace and quiet then Beech cottage has it. The location is superb for access to coastal walks and beaches. The cottage is small but has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We have stayed at Beech cottage on many occasions for the peaceful location and its access to wonderful walks. A huge bonus is that we can take our dogs who love the wonderful coastal walks.

The cottage was lovely and clean and nicely furnished and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Our problem was how cold it was, the electric heaters provided bearly any heat and didnt warm a whole room up, the one in the bedroom didnt work properly and we were freezing all night and there wasnt enough wood provided to burn the fire with, what little we had wasnt enough to warm the room up. Parking was a nightmare and could bearly get our car in the gates of the house. Maybe staying in the summer would be a better experience but would not reccomend the winter here.

Lovely cottage, the only downside for us was the location. Quite a distance from Vetnor, Shanklin, Sandown and Rhyde Otherwise I would certainly recommend to anybody looking for a nice place to stay in a quiet location.

Like others I was concerned after reading previous reviews. However, we were really pleased with the cottage, which had everything you needed for the week. Lovely to be able to see the sea, super walks. Owners very friendly and helpful.

We had been a bit concerned having read the other most recent reviews but were very pleased indeed! The cottage was absolutely gorgeous with a welcome gift of wine and fudge. Such an unexpected surprise. It was clean and cosy in the most wonderful setting and had everything we needed. I wish we could have stayed longer and would love to return.

Great location and easy to find. We had almost everything we needed, bar the first aid kit. A lovely cottage but some new sheets for the main room and a good dust to get rid of the cobwebs hanging over the bed wouldn’t go amiss!
