We had a lovely stay at this cottage. It was ideally placed for what we wanted and we were welcomed very nicely by the owners. The cottage had really thick old walls and therefore was very cozy. It had all the amenities that we needed and more besides. The shower was great with a few different settings, and the running hot water in the sink was piping hot. The woodburner was extremely efficient, better than ours at home and the timber supplied was not broken pallets but well seasoned logs which were great. We hope to keep in touch with the owners. We found them to be very welcoming without being intrusive and were always helpful should we have had any queries. The pub (half mile away) was very warm and welcoming also. All told, this is a very quiet, peaceful place to stay and we would be delighted to stay there again. Thank you to the Goldsmiths for a great stay with you. The Scanlons

Fab stay, has everthing and more you need for a break away. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. The heating went wrong and they had someone come straight away to fix it. Area is quiet with a pub in walking distance down a country road. Central to all parts of the island, but would suggest that you need a car. Bedrooms are large and comfortable, my dog absolutely loved the garden area, secure and well kept. A bottle of wine was there to welcome us which was lovely sat around the log fire. Would definately stay again if visiting the Isle of Wight.

Firstly the good points...... Nice friendly owner living next door. The cottage has a great quiet and peaceful countryside location. No noise whatsoever-great!! Good sized rooms and great for up to 4 people. Quite comfortable large beds a bonus. Good sized fully secured garden a plus for our small dog. The cottage has all the necessary amenities inside it. Good off street parking And good wifi thank you! However.... Cleanliness is a major issue here which is why we would not return On arrival found the stainless steel kitchen sink to be brown stained with remnants of last persons food around the plughole. Had to spend time to clean it to use. The bathroom was another major problem with the sink not clean with grime around it and taps not clean The shower unit was awful. A plastic mat was on the floor that when moved has hair and dirt stuck around it and the whole enclosure despite a good clean was not of a standard to us which we didn't . When cleaning he water wouldn't go away which was due to long hairs blocking the drain. The brown limescale all around the shower unit was long term non cleaning The house did need a good clean throughout and if properly cleaned we would love to return

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner- All bathroom fittings were brand new for this season with the exception of the shower and its enclosure. We had always planned to upgrade the shower and its fittings over this winter and this will go ahead. As far as the rest of the house is concerned it is fully steam cleaned between each occupancy. We were surprised by the criticism since nearly everybody so far has been extremely complimentary.
