A lovely place everything you need (loads of games and dvd,s for small children should you need them). Extremely comfy and we felt right at home. Ideal location to explore either on foot or by car. The Navigation inn was excellent for food and friendly helpful service (doesn’t open Mondays though) all in all we have all ready tried to book again for our next holiday but found if to be all ready taken.

The accommodation was absolutely lovely. We had an issue with our car which somewhat spoiled the holiday from Tuesday onwards especially our contact with the AA but this was nothing to do with the cottage and the owner was extremely helpful. Thank you Jo. Hope to be able to go back to do the holiday proper justice sometime.

Lovely cottage we really enjoyed our stay there. No local shop but aldi is only a 5 min drive away which is no problem. Would definitely stay again!

A good holiday overall, despite this being a rather isolated location, with only the unimpressive Oswestry within a reasonable distance. The cottage was well stocked with necessaries, and very warm - although the hot water didn't seem to be as consistent as a combi-boiler would suggest. Some surprisingly low beams were a bit of an issue for our 8 year-old too. The owner is very approachable and personable, and the fully lockable storage space outside was perfect for my MTB. The only reason we probably wouldn't rent this property again is because we like variety, and I would heartily recommend it - the building is well-stocked with stair gates and other amenities for young children.

The premises was obviously converted some years ago to a good standard but regrettably it is now showing signs of age. The cooker did not function properly and my guess is that the problems have been there some time. The microwave was out of the arc and the washing machine door needed a good push to get it to engage properly so the machine would work. The extractor fan in the shower ran on for probably an hour after the shower finished and needs some work. The TV in the bedroom was not reliable and continually froze whilst the one down stairs was ok. This indicates that the system for moving the picture from room to room needs some looking at. This could be an excellent country retreat but does now need some money spending on it.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; First of all may I apologise for the negative aspects of your stay with us here at The Stables. Any maintenance needs brought to our attention are acted on promptly, as our priority is the well-being of our guests. As far as we were aware, there were no issues reported regarding the cooker or the TV in the bedroom, otherwise it would have been dealt with immediately. We shall have a look into the matter of the TV reception as it may simply be an issue with the aeria,l seeing as the main TV, as you sated was working fine. As for the washing machine door, I do use this every time I do a turnaround of guests and can't say I have had a problem with it but I shall take a look next time I use it. The shower fan has been set to run for a 30 minute period after the light is switched off to ensure that all steam is cleared from the bathroom so as to avoid any damp issues. I apologise if you felt that this was too long but would rather clear the room than have to suggest guests open the windows to do so after they use the shower. Once again, I am sorry you felt that the property is dated and will address all of the issues you have brought to our attention following your stay.
