"Beautiful surroundings with forests, river and countryside walks all waiting to be discovered and savoured..."

These three charming holiday cottages (refs SGD, SAAF and UYN) are located within the extensive grounds of Aswanley, in the River Deveron Valley. All are peacefully set in secluded locations, enjoying uninterrupted views across beautiful scenery and each has a large LCD TV and its own private garden. Visitors are welcome to explore the Aswanley grounds, where there is an abundance of wildlife, with fishing, rough shooting and deer stalking available by arrangement. The proximity to the River Deveron makes the cottages ideal for fly fishing holidays, especially for those trying trout or salmon fly fishing for the first time, and there are deep pools for swimming. Visitors can explore the area on foot or on mountain bikes - the Moray Monster Trails are 20 miles away. The famous Whisky Trail is nearby and many of the distilleries offer guided tours and the chance to sample the local malts - the local inn has a collection of over 700 bottles of finest whisky! Shops 6 miles.

This secluded cottage sits on the edge of a forest, commanding marvellous elevated views over the River Deveron valley - perfect for a romantic highland break. Had a great stay at the cottage and it met all of our needs near enough! We wanted somewhere remote with a log fire and got it. The cottage itself is lovely and done up to a great spec, though as others have said, the area around the bath needs some tlc, though this will be because of the nature of the hand held shower. Cost of the electricity was fine as we stayed sensible with our use, and extra logs were £7 a bag. We used a bag per night, but had the fire on from early evening to late and kept the radiators low. Bed was really big and decently comfy. Good TV reception and plenty of channels. Our only issues really were needing to wash most of the dishes before use (the frying pan and glasses were greasy) and fiddling with the shower. We knew it was handheld and fed from the bath so weren't precious about that, but it was a real struggle to get it to an ok temperature. The hot water was very hot, but low in pressure, so adding cold water seemed to only bring cold water through. Raising the shower head up and down changed the pressure and thus the temperature. Was a fine balance of adding the tiniest amount of cold to get a temperature that didn't scald. We mostly made it work, worth noting the bath itself is a really good size so that's also an option.

Everything was great but for the fact they did not tell you you would be charged for electricity and logs. When you rent a cottage you don’t expect to pay extra when you arrive. You get £10 of electricity free which is ok for one night, but be prepared to fork out if you are there for any longer. However if they had said before reading it on arrival then it might soften the blow somewhat. Apart from that it is excellent.

A lovely stay in a pretty cottage with delightful surroundings.. Generally well equipped but an airer or clothes line would have been appreciated. Similarly, due to the lack of mobile phone service and internet, it would have been nice to have a land line just in case of any emergency situation. Don't let that detract from the fact that it is a gorgeous retreat for a couple!

Love this place and have been coming for years as the location is stunning, but it is starting to look tired and needs a bit of time spent on it. For example, the tiles around the bath are braking off an the area needs a lick of paint. In the kitchen the units are looked old and some doors need replacing. The fridge does not close properly unless you make the effort to force it closed. There is something going on with the dish washer as well, door is ill fighting and gappy. Shame, as we love this place but it has lost a bit of its sparkle. Also, we have always said this that the view is stunning so it would be nice to have a 'nice' bench/seat to sit on. Thank you.
