Winding your way up a private track through the magnificent Glenkindie Estate, you will happen upon Tornahatnach, a charming 19th-century detached cottage which has been lovingly converted into a fine holiday home. Sleeping up to five guests, it is perfect for family breaks, countryside peaceful walking trails, or simply switching off from the pace of busy life.
Inside Tornahatnach, the rooms are spacious and very well furnished. The cottage offers three welcoming bedrooms: a flexible twin bedroom with ensuite downstairs, which can be set as a Super king upon request, a cosy single upstairs, and a beautifully styled King bedroom. Each space has been designed for comfort, ensuring a restful stay after a day spent exploring the local trails and scenery. The spacious kitchen and dining area are designed for gathering, complete with a farmhouse sink, Everhot range, and a breakfast bar for sociable cooking, while a built-in dining neuk is ideal for leisurely breakfasts or relaxed suppers. The living room is warm and inviting with comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove, and shelves of books and board games. Large windows bring in plenty of natural light and frame views of the surrounding countryside, creating a tranquil retreat in every season.
Upstairs, the main bathroom features a classic over-bath shower, colourful tiling, and heritage-style fittings, while a convenient separate toilet is located downstairs alongside the en-suite facilities. Glenkindie Estate is set amongst glorious scenery at the edge of the stunning Cairngorms National Park, where there are wonderful views in all directions. To the southeast is Royal Deeside, home to many fine castles including Balmoral Castle and several National Trust for Scotland properties. Kildrummy Castle is also within easy reach and makes for a great day out.
In late summer, the world-famous Braemar Gathering and the local Lonach Highland Gathering are well worth a visit, and for those who enjoy mountain sports, there are exceptional opportunities as many of the finest Munros are found here. The Lecht nearby offers seasonal skiing and snowboarding when conditions permit, and there is easy access to the famous Whisky Trail. The surrounding hills offer the perfect terrain for mountain bikers, while golfers can enjoy some lovely golf courses nearby.
