Delgatie Castle sits peacefully amid fields and forests, on a large country estate. It has a long and chequered history, dating back from 1050 and was once home to the late Captain Hay - a feudal baron. Now open to the public, the castle provides a wealth of interest for visitors, plus the opportunity to sample delicious home baking in the cosy tea room. Symbister Suite is located in the north wing of the castle, and has, as you would expect, all the style and ambience of a real stately home. Turriff, 3 miles, is home to a host of activities and interests. River fishing, with brown trout and salmon both available at cost. You can play golf on any of the several 18-hole courses in the area, or enjoy some time on a boating lake or even a putting green. Alternatively, play tennis, bowls, or go riding or shooting. Try the indoor sports and swimming pool complex. Nearby there are stately homes and castles to explore, museums and heritage centres, picturesque coastal villages, nature reserves and colourful parks, as well as famous distilleries. Advance grocery service available on request.

Nice peaceful place to stay. Ideal for touring round and visiting the many castles and the coastline. The Grampian Motor Museum is a pleasant drive away over beautiful countryside. The Lairds Kitchen in the castle is a must. Fabulous cakes.

Really delightful accommodation in a very peaceful setting. Our host was welcoming and helpful and provided home-baked cakes. She is passionate about Delgatie castle and runs a first class teashop with her friendly team - we'd warmly recommend visiting both the main part of the castle and the teashop and there's no excuse not since they are, literally, on your doorstep. The rooms in the suite are very comfortable and spotlessly clean, perfect for a couple or a family. The kitchen is well appointed although we ate out every night in Turriff 2 miles away. The coast is a short drive away and there are many, many castles, small towns and historic sites to visit as well as walks and nature reserves - far too much to see in the week we spent at Delgatie castle. We would thoroughly recommend staying in this unique place.
