Burncliff is a spacious, traditional farmhouse just outside the picturesque village of Blackwaterfoot village, on the stunning Isle of Arran. This charming property retains many period features including fireplaces in some bedrooms, offers breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside, is in easy distance of the village amenities, and is conveniently located for exploring Arran’s attractions and activities.
The renowned 12-hole gem of Shiskine Golf and Tennis Club is only 1 mile distant, alongside the beautiful sands of Blackwaterfoot beach, ideal for picnics, swimming, and beachcombing. Beach visitors can enjoy an ice cream from the golf pro shop or food and drink at The Teeroom café. 10 minutes’ walk from Burncliff, the village of Blackwaterfoot is centred on a picturesque harbour, and has a newsagent, butchers, bakery, sandwich shop and well-stocked grocery shop selling local produce. The fantastic Kinloch hotel is a cornerstone of the local community and has bars and a restaurant open to non-residents. There’s tremendous variety available for walkers on Arran.
Around Blackwaterfoot, popular destinations are the Machrie Moor Stone Circles and the scenic clifftop and beach walk to the King’s Caves. For a bigger challenge, there are awe-inspiring walks to the summits and along the ridges of the granite peaks of the northern Arran range. Arran also offers mountain biking, paragliding, canyoning and more. Close to Burncliff, Cairnhouse stables offer hacking and trekking for novices and experienced riders. The island’s coastal waters are perfect for kayaking, sailing, and fishing. Red squirrels, golden eagles, red deer, otters and seals are regularly sighted.
Other island attractions include the impressive Victorian-era castle at Brodick which also has beautiful gardens, and an adventure playground. There’s a marine discovery centre, a geology centre and a heritage museum. The distilleries in Lochranza and Lagg offer guided tours and tastings. Beach 1 mile.
