Find cottages in Deal

The seaside town of Deal provides a relaxing cottage holiday break, with its Georgian buildings and a prominent pier.

It’s hard to believe this charming town was once one of the busiest ports in England when you look at the pleasant resort it is today. There is plenty of evidence of a proud maritime and military history to be found here in its several museums, but elsewhere the theme is one of unhurried calm as you explore its many meandering streets and alleyways.

Visit the town’s castle, where the rose floor design carries hints of its originator, Henry VIII. Another Tudor castle can be found at nearby Walmer, with its castle gardens as well as a delightful and usually quiet beach nearby.

The town’s famous Pier, rebuilt at least three times in its history now reaches more than 1,000 feet out to sea and offers superb views back towards the town and surrounding countryside; it’s also a highly valued spot for anglers, who can be seen there almost any time of the day or night. Other local activities include golf; there are two golf courses nearby and cycling; there is a coastal cycle way and routes around Fowlmead country park; bike hire is available and is perfect for gentle rides given the absence of hills in the area!

So why not seek out your own little piece of calm at this charming seaside spot and start searching for Deal holiday cottages today.
