Find cottages in Shanklin

Shanklin is perhaps the most popular location on the Isle of Wight for a traditional family holiday by the sea. With an impressively long sandy beach, plenty of fun things to see and do and lots of old-fashioned seaside charm, Shanklin has long been a top destination for holidaymakers, young and old.

Shanklin can be found in the pleasant Sandown Bay area on the east side of the island. The most prominent tourist attraction is the seafront itself, where you''ll find everything you could ask for in a traditional seaside holiday. Beach huts and deckchairs can be hired along the golden beaches, ice-cream parlours and cafes are never more than five minutes’ walk along the front and for kids and families there is lots on offer, with bouncy castles, funfair rides, arcade games and crazy golf available throughout the summer.

Away from the beachfront, Shanklin''s Old Village area is like a time-warp. Visit the old-fashioned shops, stop for a pot of tea in one of the Old English Tea Rooms and wander the cobbled lanes at your leisure. A trip to the impressive natural gorge and waterfall known as Shanklin Chine is also highly recommended. This is a beautiful wooded area with some excellent views of the island and some rare plants and wildlife to discover.

The main part of the town centre has everything you''d need for a week away, with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes - all while being just a ten minute drive from the sandy beaches. Stay in one of the many pleasant cottages in Shanklin and make the most of the Isle of Wight this summer.
