Perfect location, good facilities, but didn’t feel entirely clean. Great value for money and was perfect for us.

A good sized cottage, with all that we needed for our party of ten. Kitchen was very well equipped, apart from the lack of choice of frying pans and no scales that we could find. However, a bit of general maintenance is needed - a light bulb missing, a shower very slow to drain, the extractor fan not working in one of the ensuites - and the electrics need sorting. Not suitable for those afraid of earwigs.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback and were glad you found the farmhouse well equipped for your needs. Thank you also for raising the other points so that we can resolve them swiftly. We have provided additional frying pans and weighing scales as well as carrying out a thorough spring clean and maintenance check around the property to ensure that everything is working as it should including revamp of the ensuite which was slow to drain. We have identified that a fault with one of the fridges was causing an occasional trip on the electrics and have now replaced this fridge to prevent this happening any further. I was not aware of any earwigs in the property and having performed a thorough check none have been found. Thank you for your feedback as it is very helpful for us to ensure that we maintain the best standard we can for our home and to ensure that it meets our guests expectations.

I have 3 dogs so didn't have much choice with regard to cottages but decided on Treginegar Farmhouse. I have never been to Cornwall but wanted to be near to Padstow so location was great to get to Newquay for surfing and the lovely beaches in the area. 1 1/2 miles away, St Merryn is a lively village with loads of restaurants to chose from, we tried most of them whilst we were there and the bakery is fab. The immediate location was disappointing, lots of derelict buildings and an airfield which you weren't allowed to walk along - with 3 dogs there was limited places to walk first thing in the morning. and last thing at night - a bit spooky. The signs on entrance to the long lane leading to the Farmhouse clearly informed me that the locals had issues with tourists as there were a lot of DO NOTs listed - not very welcoming. The Farmhouse served it's purpose as far as there were myself and my friend and we had 4 kids between us so plenty of sleeping options with the 5 bedrooms. Some of the bathrooms appear to have been recently refurbished and very nice but the en-suite in the twin room needs some work. My 16 year old daughter used my bathroom as a result as she thought hers was a bit creepy. Downstairs was mixed - dining room was nice and the living area, weird bar area to one side with a cobbled floor - 'back of house' the kitchen was clearly used as a catering kitchen from it's previous life as a guest house. A bit grimy the oven was fierce and I couldn't find the switch for the huge cooker hood. It did have everything we needed but by no means a Farmhouse Kitchen. The property overall has huge potential and with a bit of investment could be a beautiful large house.

Response on behalf of the owner:- Hi Alison Thank you so much for your feedback and were glad you enjoyed the overall area. We took the property on just over a year ago and are doing our best to renovate it as quickly as we can, with it being a 300 year old house its proving to be a lengthy process, but its a labour of love for us. We take your point about the kitchen and whilst its very convenient for the large numbers the house holds, it being a catering kitchen, its something we want to work on. We do ensure the kitchen is well cleaned, including regular deep cleans. Thank you again, we do appreciate the feedback.
