Description

With its own private hot tub, Sunflower Cottage is ideal for exploring York, the surrounding villages and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Sunflower Cottage is a stylish and contemporary single-storey detached property which has been built to a high specification and boasts a five seater hot tub on the decking. The owners live on site and are on hand should you need advice or assistance during your stay. Strensall is a charming village on the River Foss with a wide range of facilities including three pubs, a choice of grocery stores, post office, takeaway and a fish and chip shop. On the doorstep is York Golf Club, and Strensall Common, a huge conservation area maintained by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, is popular with birdwatchers.
Regular buses run from the village into the centre of the ancient walled city of York, 7 miles. Steeped in history and brimming with attractions, York appeals to all ages throughout the whole year. Visit the magnificent minster, the Jorvik Centre and the Railway Museum, browse the art galleries and stroll along the cobbled streets and city walls. There are numerous restaurants, tea shops and an abundance of inns serving real ale. Enjoy a day at the races, take a river boat trip or watch the talented street entertainers.
The surrounding area has much to offer too, with stately homes at Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall, quaint market towns at Easingwold and Helmsley, and a short drive leads to the beautiful North York Moors where the famous steam train departs from Pickering and transports visitors through stunning scenery to the fishing port of Whitby.
The coastal towns of Scarborough and Filey are also easily accessible, and after fun-filled days of sight-seeing, visitors can return to the comfort of this delightful holiday home and the relaxing bubbles of the hot tub! Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Absolutely loved sunflower cottage and can’t wait to go back! There’s not a lot to do around the cottage so it makes for good relaxation time, especially with the hot tub. Tony was lovely and really helpful at every point.

Had a fantastic 2 day stay at this immaculate cottage. Friendly welcome, all mod cons. Great hot tub. Not to far from village which has 2 good pubs to eat in but the road is a little to busy & dark to walk on a night, ok during daylight. Good bus service into york but most things not to far if you drive.

Wow! Very modern, very homely, clean, tidy and very comfortable. Love the modern aspect of Bluetooth speakers in the ceiling. The huge hot tub was awesome. A very warm welcome from the owner Tony. The location is perfect, just 15 minute drive from York city. Will we go back....Absolutely.....already booked it ! 😀

We stayed at the cottage for a birthday celebration and couldn’t have been more pleased. The cottage was modern but cosy. We found everything we needed in the cottage and will be looking to visit and stay again. We were close enough to York to be able to access it via a taxi for about £20.

Lovely cottage very clean good location and local amenities. Felt as quite a luxurious cottage it was missing a dishwasher not essential but think in this class of cottage it would be nice. Also missed a few other kitchen accessories. Was slightly disappointed as offered no view from the hot tub you just looked at your car in the summer for us the lack of outdoor space would put us off and privacy.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback and kind comments regarding how luxurious, very clean and with good location and local amenities you found at Sunflower cottage. Thank you for your comments on the dishwasher, we now have installed a full size integrated dishwasher. I am unsure what kitchen accessories were missing but if you would have made me aware, I would have been more than happy to source immediately. I will double check against our inventory of kitchen equipment. The privacy of the cottage and our guests is high priority for us. The cottage is positioned at the top of the site; there are no persons who will pass the cottage, its decking or hot tub area while we have guests stay. Finally, I am slightly disappointed with your online review as since checking our guest book you left very positive comments. However, all feedback is welcome and hopefully we have fixed your concerns for any future guests regarding the dishwasher. Thanks again.
