Loved our stay and just a few minor things that we felt could be improved to have made our stay even better. The paddock was a bit of a let down as we couldn't really use it - very uneven and not cut properly (lots of wasps around too - one of our party got stung). Fortunately the garden area was perfect for the kids so we didn't really need the paddock. Also the property could have been a little cleaner but appreciate it's a big property to clean. The hot tub wasn't usable on our first night as it was only luke warm - it is advertised that it may not be up to temperature on the first night but we were hopeful it would have been warm enough to use. We did really love all of the original features the cottage still has.

On arrival, leaves that hadn't been swept for sometime, opened the door to a damp smell, which we found to be the shower that leaked into the dinning area (which needs more lighting but not where it leaks) they knew about this because of the mop and bucket they leave you, they will blame you for not putting the screen in the bath, which we did. The back of the toilet came off and wouldn't stop flushing on the day we arrived, called them and someone came out very quickly with some duck tape to fix it !!!! Crumbs on the table, dirty door on the oven, which when we said didn't work the man put his hand in the oven to check and told us it was only 12mths old, don't think so, we had burnt pizza for tea. The downstairs shower only ever got to luke warm and make it a quick one or you will flood everywhere. The cobwebs are older than a day, the one in the downstairs bedroom was massive and also a stained carpet. The hot tub is more a 5 person tub, cause if you put 8 in it the water comes out and if you still decide to go here after this review, take a step to get in it because they don't provide one because they are dangerous, believe me it's more dangerous without one and finally if your expecting to use the paddock that is shown to be huge and midsold on the pictures, I wouldn't bother, it's overgrown with wild flowers and the only thing that uses it are the bees. This place needs more than a little TLC and I strongly advice that the owners go and have a look around their properties. DO I RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY....NO I DO NOT.

The house was lovely, however it wasn't as clean as it could be. There was dust and cobwebs on exposed brickwork and in other places. The kitchen was equipped really well and the hot tub was great though. The location was good and we easily fitted all the cars on the drive.

Could be a lovely cottage with a bit of care and attention.

12 of us booked the house for a family long weekend. We had different ages in our group from 4 year olds up to 70+. The house was very interesting and full of character. It provided everything we needed from an equipment point of view and the kitchen was very well stocked to meet all our needs. The living room accommodated all of us comfortably and there were plenty of areas to sit and find some quiet time too! Bradnop itself is a very small hamlet and very quiet but you are within a short 5min trip to all the amenities you could possibly need in Leek. You are also within 20-30mins drive of Dovedale, Ilam, Peak Wildlife Park (excellent value for kids!) and the lovely Rudyard Lake. The hot tub was large, clean, well looked after and very welcome as a relaxing evening soak. In general it was clean and tidy when we arrived but the rooms and furniture are slightly old and getting a little shabby, but with young children this wasn't a bad thing really as we weren't constantly on edge making sure they didn't break anything. Couple of issues to note for future reference...the hot tub didn't heat up on the first day. Be prepared to only use this on day 2. It is also located in the garden with no overhead cover and overlooks the small village green by the Parish Hall so easily in view from lane and for people arriving for events in the hall! Not a problem really but maybe for those a bit more shy? One of the bedrooms is only accessible by going through another bedroom. Ok with kids. Not so good when with people you aren't as familiar with! The main bathroom did leak a little into the dining room as the shower screen didn't quite cover the main splashing. No serious issues from this but just to be aware. Also the main dining table only seats 8 people. Not so great when there is 12 of you (as advertised as the normal occupancy) wanting to enjoy each other's company over dinner. There is another table in the kitchen area that seats 4-6 and although in sight isn't next to the other table and we were advised not to move furniture around. Other than those niggles we were very satisfied and would consider School House again.

We had a lovely weekend break at the School House. The building is full of old charm and it was a perfect size for our group of 10. The hot tub was fabulous. However, there were a couple of 'niggles', the main ones being the shower downstairs didn't get hot, the upstairs bathroom leaked through the kitchen ceiling, carpets and decor are a little tired and we would have liked an ipod dock of some description. Unfortunately, the owners don't seem to agree that these are reasonable observations. This is a shame as just a little attention to detail would have resulted in another booking from us. As it is, I dont feel I can recommend the property.

Despite the poor weather we had a good visit to the Staffordshire Moorland and found the School House a convenient place to stay. The house has a somewhat quirky layout which adds to it's old world charm. Sadly didn't get to use the hot tub.

A lovely stay at the school house. Cottage has a quirky layout but lots of space. It’s age means noises from upstairs can be heard all over and it can get cold at night but that’s all part of the charm. Great quiet location, lovely views and good places to visit nearby. Hot tub was a hit with everyone!

Fantastic stay at School House. It was minutes from Leek town centre and the location was perfect. The only fault I could find were the floorboards had no insulation so anyone above one room could hear what was going on the room below, but this was only a minor issue. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay here again.

Loved the hot tub. Large house with lots of space. Not much within walking distance such as shops/pubs but only 5/10 mins drive away.

A period property in average condition with sufficient equipment but insufficient pleasantries.
