Enjoying views over open countryside, this cosy cottage has wood burner, wooden floor and patio doors to south facing patio.

Created from old farm buildings and retaining original features, including exposed brickwork and beams, these single-storey holiday cottages (refs 26225 and 29452) enjoy views over open countryside. Privately situated in the grounds of the owners’ home, each one has its own south facing patio where visitors can relax and watch the pet sheep, hens and Shetland ponies as they graze in the adjoining paddock in this peaceful village close to the River Derwent. The historic city of York, famous for its cobbled streets, magnificent minster, museums, restaurants and traditional inns, is easily accessible with the Grimston park and ride just a 10 minute drive away. Close by are the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the renowned paintings of David Hockney and the Howardian Hills, excellent for walking and cycling. The coastal resorts of Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and the North York Moors are all within an hour’s drive. Visit National Trust properties and stately homes at Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes and quaint market towns at Malton, Easingwold and Pickering. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

All on the ground floor.

Lovely cottage , cosy comfortable and spotless !! The only reason I have given a nine and not a ten is the bathroom door needs attention apart from that it was perfect !! The lady that owned the property was helpful and very approachable the Yorkshire loaf was amazing !!! Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Cottage was outstandingly good. The only downside was that the location did not have any nearby footpaths, so that we had to use our car every day.

Unable to sit on patio because chicken house to close to property which attract lots of flies (don't mind chickens being on the site but just to close)

I only gave a low score for local amenities as there were no shops or pubs nearby, the cottage was outstanding backing on to woodland and fields with friendly animals.A five minute drive from the park and ride into York, we are planning to return later in the year.

Lovely stay at Rusty’s cottage which is set in a quiet location on farmland accompanied by a sweet pony called Minnie, lots of chickens and a couple of sheep. Very well equipped cottage which upon arrival we were greeted with fresh eggs, cake and fresh apple juice. Owner was really nice and helpful with suggestions of things to do and places to eat locally. Would definitely stay here again.
