Description

Enjoy a special occasion at this property, where gourmet meals can be arranged and which also has its own hot tub.

Nestling in the pretty Norfolk countryside close to the heart of the Norfolk Broads, Willow Barn and single-storey Beech Barn are detached holiday properties dating back to the 1700s, situated in the grounds of the owner’s home. Providing a perfect retreat for discerning larger family groups, these converted barns offer spacious and comfortable accommodation boasting beamed interiors, wood-burning stoves and enclosed separate gardens with private hot tubs, and for a special meal or family celebration gourmet meals can be arranged with the owner. Beech Farm Barns are ideally located for all the family and for nature lovers there is an abundance of bird life. Within walking distance is Alderfen Broad, which is situated in The Broads National Park, a bird watcher’s delight. For the children there is BeWILDerwood Adventure Park with its treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and boat trips, which all combined makes a great day out. Nearby is the attractive Broads village of Horning with its selection of tea shops, restaurants and pubs. A day boat can be hired directly from the owner, or book a trip on the Mississippi steamer. The sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast are only 10 miles away. Alternatively spend a day in the fine city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedrals, castle, museums, theatres, market and vast array of cafes and shops. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest 17th-century country Jacobean houses in East Anglia), Blickling Hall (a magnificent house with woodlands and lakeside walks) and Sheringham Park (beautifully landscaped and renowned for its spectacular displays of azaleas and rhododendrons in late spring). Shops and pub 1½ miles.

Beech Barn (CZU) can be booked together with Willow Barn (CZB) to accommodate up to 18 guests.

We rented Willow Barn for a family reunion, and we had a lovely time. There was plenty of space for all of us and the kitchen was well equipped for a big group. The owners were helpful and local and even bought us a couple of bottles of Prosecco for the birthday girl! The kids LIVED in the hot-tub.

Lovely setting and Barn has been well restored. Feel that the living area/kitchen a little tied and garden furniture/ barbecue would a good addition as just picnic tables at present. But really this is being picky, as a nice location.

ON THE POSITIVE: The cottage was lovely, very clean and furnished to a good standard. We all had a really relaxing break and enjoyed our time there. The hot tub was wonderful and used every night... though slightly cool when we first arrived. We didn't hear any noise from the "human" neighbours... though the same couldn't be said for the Rook chicks nesting in the roof - but LOVELY all the same and had great fun (with Dad's binoculars from halfway down the garden) to identify the parents. SLIGHT NEGATIVES: There was a sewage smell in the corridor, which we couldn't locate an origin of. Also, the open plan mezzanine bedrooms above the kitchen/lounge meant noise travelled very easily and, if guests in those bedrooms went to bed early, everyone else had to be aware of noise generated. All things considered , would stay again.

We had an absolutely amazing time here. The place looks so much better in person. Having the hot tub was brilliant. The place itself was easy to find, all you could hear was the birds tweeting.

Good base for the Broads and the coast. Even in the middle of winter we found plenty to entertain our large group. The hot tub was a big hit.

As a location for a family gathering the barn was comfy and cosy but spacious. The bedrooms with their en suites was a definite plus as was the hot tub which was extensively used despite freezing temperatures at this time of year. The kitchen was well equipped and we were made to feel very welcome.

Love house, but just a few small missing things which would make a massive difference. Things like local information book, taxi numbers, restaurants and that kind of thing. Larger mirrors near sockets for drying hair, shower heads that stay up, towels sets per person maybe better quality.

The basic house was fine but facilities such as Tv for the children was poor( would have liked Sky/ satellite). Internet was also poor and the area was not to our liking. With mixed weather in October there was very little to keep the young children entertained. Although we knew the house had no doors to the upstairs bedrooms we did not appreciate how annoying this can be when young children wake early and need food in the kitchen diner or tv in the lounge.

Willow Barn was in a very idyllic quiet location, perfect for dog walking and relaxing as a large family for a 70th birthday weekend away. The wifi is non existent in some locations of the property, with teenagers and kids this resulted in them being in bedrooms where the wifi was good a lot of the time, the wifi in the communal lounge and kitchen/dining areas was quite poor. The owner was very helpful and located right next door. The two rooms upstairs were very spacious but do not have doors, they are open plan, which was not a concern for us but if you have younger kids sleeping upstairs, could be slightly disturbing to them.
