Description

Close to the shores of Lake Windermere and boasting fine period interiors, Wilfin Beck Cottage is a fantastic base for six.

In the heart of Beatrix Potter country and close to the shore of Lake Windermere, this delightful Grade II listed cottage commands spectacular lake views, with peaceful walks to be found along the shoreline. Adjoining another property, it has been lovingly restored and exudes character with its original polished wooden and stone-flagged floors, exposed beams and a cast-iron range. The charm is also reflected in the lovely cottage garden, with the grandeur of the lakes extending beyond. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the central Lakes with Grizedale Forest, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Ambleside all close by. Just over a mile to the Hawkshead ferry and Far Sawrey and Hill Top, the home of Beatrix Potter and the famous Tower Bank. Shop 1 mile.

The cottage would have been reasonably comfortable except unfortunately for the feather duvets and pillows which gave my 10 year old such chronic asthma we had to spend the last night at the Kendal Travelodge. I recommend non allergenic bedding is supplied as an alternative on site if the owners want to keep their feather bedding as I am sure my daughter won't be the first to have an allergy to feathers. As this isn't something which is flagged in the write-up on the cottage - it wasn't something we anticipated was a risk when booking. The views are very nice though from the front.
