The master bedroom in each property features a flatscreen TV, and home-made meals can be pre-ordered and delivered to the cottage (arranged direct with the owner). The cottages lie just a short distance from some of south Devon’s finest beaches and tourist attractions, including the historic town of Totnes which is just 15 minutes away and sits on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. Had a really nice week in Devon and enjoyed our stay at Monkshood. The cottage was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and clean on arrival (although the roof windows need a clean). The cottage is in a nice location, very peaceful and generally very quiet. The owners gave us a courtesy call before arrival, which was a nice touch and greeted us shortly after arrival. Was helpful and approachable, gave the impression that he would be there to help throughout the week if need be. The pool and games room were used often by our family group and we really enjoyed those facilities. Must say though, both areas look a bit tired and unloved, perhaps a refresh is needed? Loads to do within a short drive of the cottage, nice beaches, towns and other family activities. The lanes can be unnerving if you’re not a confident driver, however almost everyone was patient and friendly. In summary, we had a great week and Monkshood did us great. I do think it’s overpriced though.

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. The welcome was warm and friendly and the owner gave us all the details needed about local attractions and the best time to navigate the local roads. A mobile phone number was also provided to ensure any help/advice needed was no more than a phone call away, stating “don’t hesitate to call anytime. The pool and games room are a big plus; especially given the relaxed approach to usage times. I can highly recommend Wealden Cottages for an enjoyable, relaxed family holiday.

Lovely cottage, clean plenty of bits and pieces, lots to do there and local things not far away. The lanes are a bit tricky but that could be anywhere. Overall a really good experience.
