Absolutely loved our time at The Stables at Riber Hall. Beautiful building, lovely location (remote with gorgeous views) and everything we needed for a fantastic time. I couldn't recommend this property enough.

20 of us here for a 70th party. Really quirky rooms but everything was there. Biggest drawback with this place is you have to go outside from the accommodation block down a dozen steps in the garden to get to the sun room and kitchen/dining area. No probs on a lovely sunny day but it rained cats and dogs the whole weekend so we frequently got wet. Also no toilets down here, you have to go back up to your room. Also, no dishwasher in the kitchen so plenty of teamwork required. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it is an oddball sort of place, just be aware of the drawbacks. It is mentioned in the website, I just didn't realise that it would be a bit of a pain because of the weather.

Gorgeous place, so close to Matlock. We had a family gathering for a surprise 60th, and Lolly the housekeeper even set up a few balloons, cake and some fizz!! My mother was thrilled. The kids had an excellent time in the garden, and we visited Matlock and a farm park. The kitchen is very well equipped and the ideal size for a large party, the oven is excellent and I was able to cater for us all easily. The common area is not connected internally to the house, which was only an issue in the rain but not in the good weather. The bedrooms are decorated to a high standard, some bathrooms could use a little modernising but each has charm and character, and privacy! I would definitely return.

Fantastic accommodation in a great location central to Matlock, perfect for a family holiday. Our only observation was that for families with young children there are only two bedrooms within earshot of the living room area. The rest of the rooms are situated along two corridors in the adjoining building. Depending on the age of the children it is only a short walk but I would not have felt comfortable leaving my 2 year old in those rooms, luckily we only had two couples with children so it worked for us. For families without children there would be no issues and I could not recommend highly enough !

Disgusting, mold on walls, soaking wet walls near electrical outlet. 4 of the 5 Jacuzzis didn’t work. Fridge freezer was faulty and completely ruined all our food (defrosted). Communal area conservatory roof had a whole in and leaked drops of water constantly on the guests when raining. Outdoor area wasn’t safe for kids at all and even had a huge shard of glass next to the main door that my daughter cut her self on. Cheap wicker furniture was broken and caused injuries. Wouldn’t ever go back, had to sleep on the floor in another room as the damp and mould was that bad in our room.

Wonderful place and setting for a hen weekend with the bride-to-be, my daughter. Beds extremely comfortable and each room with its own ensuite and mini” kitchen (incl. fridge) which was handy in addition to the fridge/freezer in the large kitchen. Each bedroom is full of character and spotlessly clean. The dining area (within the kitchen) was magnificent. Very grand with large overhead “chandeliers”, making our meals together very special. The communal area in the conservatory was lovely to spend most of our time in for chilling out, a bit of dancing and the wine tasting evening. The grounds were extensive and perfect for Sports Day activities on Saturday afternoon. Followed by a LOTR themed evening. Note for others: there is no toilet in the downstairs communal areas. You have to use the outside steps either side of the conservatory entrance to access the nearest two bedrooms to use the facilities. There is no dishwasher, not an issue if you intend getting caterers in or takeaways - but we had self-catered. It was a bit of a challenge but many hands made light work ... but we would obviously have preferred a dishwasher with that number of people (14 adults). Getting the food shopping down to the kitchen/conservatory area was a bit of a challenge as you have to carry everything down the stone steps and into through conservatory because of the way the building is structured. All in all, these were minor issues in terms of our enjoyment of the weekend and the happy and memorable time we had there. Contact through the housekeeper, Molly, was very efficient for last minute queries and all our questions were answered very promptly. Would highly recommend.

Excellent child friendly accommodation and rapid response to faulty cooker issue late in the afternoon of Christmas Eve!
