Escape to the tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands at The Schoolhouse, a beautifully renovated former village school in the peaceful hamlet of Bennavullin on the Morvern Peninsula. Surrounded by spectacular scenery and overlooking the sea, this welcoming holiday home is the perfect retreat for families, friends and anyone looking to experience the unspoilt beauty of Scotland’s west coast.
The Schoolhouse comfortably sleeps up to six guests. Upstairs you’ll find two spacious double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all thoughtfully furnished to provide a relaxing night’s sleep. The family bathroom is conveniently located on the half landing, retaining the character of the original building while offering modern comfort.
Downstairs, the heart of the home is the bright, open-plan kitchen and dining area, where large windows frame beautiful sea views across the Sound of Mull. The adjoining lounge is equally inviting, featuring comfortable seating, a traditional wood-burning stove, and more stunning coastal views, making it the ideal place to unwind after a day exploring. The kitchen, dining room and lounge all benefit from underfloor heating, ensuring warmth and comfort throughout the year. Outside, a separate utility shed provides laundry facilities together with the added convenience of an additional toilet.
Just a short walk from the house is Taigh an Dùin Distillery, a small artisan distillery producing handcrafted Scottish gin inspired by the landscape and botanicals of Morvern. Visitors can enjoy tours, tastings and a warm Highland welcome, making it a wonderful addition to your stay.
The Morvern Peninsula is a paradise for walkers, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. Discover peaceful beaches, ancient woodlands, dramatic viewpoints and abundant wildlife, including otters, red deer, sea eagles and dolphins. Nearby Lochaline offers a picturesque harbour, a café, a dive centre and regular ferry crossings to the colourful Isle of Mull, where you can explore Tobermory, Duart Castle and stunning coastal scenery.
A little further afield, the Ardnamurchan Peninsula offers unforgettable adventures, from visiting Ardnamurchan Lighthouse, the most westerly point on mainland Britain, to exploring Castle Tioram and the white sands of Sanna Bay. Day trips to the Isles of Skye and Ulva reveal even more of Scotland’s rugged beauty and rich wildlife.
No visit to the West Highlands is complete without travelling on the world-famous Jacobite Steam Train, better known as the Harry Potter Steam Train, which crosses the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct. Tickets are extremely popular and should be booked well in advance to avoid disappointment.
Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure, island hopping, exceptional local food and drink, or simply a peaceful escape surrounded by breathtaking scenery, The Schoolhouse provides the perfect base for discovering one of Scotland’s most beautiful and unspoilt regions
