The description regarding the garden was misrepresented. It was an enclosed garden but not actually attached to the property. We had our dog with us and this was a total waste of time not having an attached garden. Our other complaint was the traffic in & out of the farm complex inc stables which early morning was a problem.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are so sorry that your stay with us in the Cider Barn didn’t live up to your expectations. The local amenities in the village are few but very good. The village pub is an award winning locals, non-chain pub whose food is all locally sourced. The Chinese Take Away is also very well recommended and all of our guests have used it in the past and have commented on how good it is! The village Post Office and shop is also very handy. Weston Super Mare is approximately 4 miles away with every supermarket that’s available in the UK. As for our beautiful cottage The Cider Barn: In the description it does say that the enclosed garden is 20 yards away from the property. The garden is a little orchard, so that you can pick the ripened fruit when it is ready. The location is on a farm that is recorded in the Doomsday Book as part of Hutton Courts Garden and farmland. We are, proudly, the oldest working farm in Somerset. We are part of the University of Bristol’s study on Bees and have 8 bee hives that they monitor. We are part of the Bat Conversation Trust and have 22 species of bat here. The cleanliness of the Cider Barn cannot be faulted either. The stables here are home to some beautiful horses and some are on Livery here. One is even part of the County Eventing Team. Others are potential eventers. We have beautiful wildlife here. Muntjac Deer, Foxes and Badgers all in all a beautiful place to be. The Owner made a point of talking to you and your husband every night to ask if you were happy and comfortable. He says you didn’t comment on any of these points to him at all.

The Barn was pretty, clean and comfortable and well provided for in terms of white goods etc. Mark, the owner, and Sharon the manager were both very friendly and helpful. The ‘welcome’ pack was a lovely extra – particularly the Apple Cider cake 😊. They had thoughtfully provided towels, blankets and doggie stuff as well. There were some lovely local walks, and the pub was great. It wasn’t very a long drive to beach either which was a bonus – a good base to explore the West Somerset area. The reason we wouldn’t stay again is not because the property wasn’t lovely, but because we missed having an outside space to sit in the evening. Though it had a lovely family friendly, secure garden picnic area, all set up with a BBQ and a pretty water feature, it wasn’t attached to the cottage, but through security gates and through the small car park which wasn’t made clear enough in the advert. It wouldn't be a problem for many but, because of mobility issues, it was for us.

Loved this cottage, very warm and friendly welcome by the owner and delicious cake baked especially for us which didnt take long to eat. Very clean and well maintained inside and lots of history to the place too. Perfect for a holiday in Somerset, we went to so many places in the week we stayed there. Also perfect for our dog as there are walks around the place. Glad we only realised the Thatcher's brewery was only a mile or two away on the last few days otherwise..........

The owner and manager are extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage is well equipped - everything promised in the advertising is there - plus a little more. It is good to be able to have dedicated secure parking. The cottage is ideal for two or three people The village amenities are not vast but what is there is good, especially the pub and, maybe surprisingly, the Chinese take-away. Everybody is very friendly . Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved our stay at The Cider Barn and hope to return soon. Fabulous accommodation with everything you would want: under floor heating; log burner; Jacuzzi bath to name just a few. The local residents are very friendly and welcoming, the pub is great with tasty, affordable food on the menu. Thatcher's cider brewed nearby, so take advantage of their shop and special offers. We weren't cider drinkers, but are now!

really enjoyed our stay, however, we really needed a garden for our dog and as the designated garden was behind a security gate and a bit of a walk, to 'just let the dog out for a wee' was problematic, especially in the middle of the night! As a personal preference we found the sofa (which was the only place to sit watching TV of an evening), was incredibly uncomfortable - this is personal preference though, but even so, very important to us! Also the security payment of £150 was a surprise, as never had to do this before - it was returned on our day of departure though! Overall though, it was good value for money, so in future I think we'll pay abit more for the much required outside space and comfort.

We had a lovely short stay at Cider Barn. The house is charming and whilst cosy, has everything you could require. We especially loved the decor and the various animals painted in the house, it really added to the country feel. The house is walking distance (5 minutes) to the local pub where the food and beer is excellent - make sure you book in advance if you want a meal, it is extremely popular! Given our trip was in winter, we didn't make use of the garden. There are supermarkets a short drive away and Weston-super-Mare itself is less than 15 minutes drive away. We enjoyed our trip to the beach and had a lovely day out. What was lovely was that the town, even in mid-February was full of life with plenty going on, it wasn't a dead husk like so many other seaside towns are in winter. All in all a lovely trip. Our only disappointment was that we would have loved to have lit the woodburning stove, but the underfloor heating was absolutely belting out almost non-stop, even when we turned the heating to 'off'.

Fantastic cottage. The hosts were wonderful and took very good care of us. They had even baked a cake, typical of the region that was waiting for us on arrival. The farm that the cottage sits on is small and very well-kept. My 4 year old daughter loved seeing the calves and chickens. She even got to collect eggs. An absolutely wonderful place.
