We have enjoyed our stay. Our hosts were amazing and accommodated our requests. The location and cottage were perfect! Had a very relaxing stay. Swimming pool and hot tub helped with that! We also enjoyed daily visits from the little furry friends. Highly recommended! Thank you

We stayed at the cottage between 20th and 25th July. It was very easy to find and we were immediately struck by the beauty of the main building, the gardens and the pool, all of which were well tended. The cottage itself nestles in the shade of trees which keeps it nice and cool on hot days. I loved all the unusual angles employed In it’s construction. They gave it character which we found endearing. Inside was a clean, well stocked and delightfully furnished accommodation. A lovely, sizeable, powerful shower was a welcome change from so many disappointing experiences on other holidays. Despite it’s close proximity to the main road, the traffic noise is not at all intrusive. The jewel in the crown has to be the pool. Luckily for us, we were the only guests who used it during our stay, so it really felt like a private pool. There isn’t much to do in the immediate vicinity but as we were only here for a peaceful break, not sightseeing, it was perfect for what we wanted. The owners/hosts are pleasant, friendly people who clearly care about their clients and their surroundings. It was a lovely peaceful week, an oasis of calm after the turbulent times we have all endured. We will certainly return.

The cottage looks very nice and the main room feels larger than it appears in photographs. The shiny floor looks like it could be slippery, but it isn’t, except for wet feet in the bathroom, even when wearing just socks. It is rather dark inside, so we needed the lights on all the time; okay it was November, but I suspect this would be the case in summer when the trees are in leaf. The only place I could find enough illumination to read was in bed. The mirror in the bathroom does have lights round it, but they are so feeble a wet shave difficult and there is no electric shaver point. The shower has nowhere to put soap, shower gel, shampoo, etc. The ventilation fan in the bathroom appeared to be not working, resulting in heavy condensation. For tall people there can be problems with the headroom. If you are over 6ft (183cm) watch your head in the shower as a beam runs across above the optimal standing position and I did bang my head several times, but I am 6’ 3” (190cm), There is another problem for men over about 5’10” (178cm): to reach the toilet you will need a good aim and strong flow, unless you bend your knees or put your head on your shoulder. The outside looks very attractive, with a picnic table provided, but the traffic noise from the A2 is quite intrusive. The bedroom is quite a lot warmer than the main room, but there is only one control for the under floor heating, so it was not possible to make the bedroom cooler without lowering the temperature in the bathroom and main room. The dining table is much higher than a standard table, but has standard height chairs, resulting in an awkward eating posture. Also there is no illumination for the worktop, as the light from the cooker hood does not extend very far and the natural standing position obstructs the light from the main room illumination. It would be useful to have some instructions both for the washing machine (loads of controls) and for the multi-use oven. There is quite a number of steps up from the front to the cottage; automatic illumination does help with lighting the steps and the path, but we found a torch useful as there are still areas of dark. There is a Shell garage about 50 meters away, but it has a very limited shop. The newspapers clearly cater for a very Conservative area (no newspapers as left wing as The Times!) About ½ mile up the road is a Co-op (just beyond the lights, turn right into Walnut Tree Avenue and there is a small car park on the left). The Co-op has a full range of newspapers as well as basic household items and also has a good range of fresh pastries – croissants, pain au chocolat, maple pecan twist, etc (but don’t arrive too late as these are clearly popular). It is a nice cottage, despite the, relatively minor, issues I have raised (a lot of which could be fixed at very little expense). However I would not book it again, due to the height problems for tall people.
