Nice cottage, great location within easy walking distance of town centre, yet quiet and peaceful. We were also able to walk to the South Devon Railway for the steam train, although there is a free car park there. We visited two National Trust properties, Coleton Fish acre and Greenwich which were within easy reach by car. We found Buckfastleigh to be a friendly small town and it was great to be able to walk to the shops etc without using the car.

We have stayed at Ted 'n' Betty's a few times over the last few years and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is clean and comfortable and the most dog-friendly we've stayed in! The garden is small but totally enclosed, so it's safe to let our dog wander in and out. The cottage is very close (about a 2-minute walk) to the local shops (including a small supermarket), pubs, cafe, and a great fish and chip shop. Buckfastleigh is a friendly place, with good road links to Exeter and Plymouth. We will definitely be returning soon!

Response on behalf of the owner; Sorry, that you did not enjoy your stay. Its certainly not dark and dreary however I can relate to you having a bad back and will look towards replacing settee. Our housekeeper is very professional and approachable and cleans throughout. It is dog-friendly.

It 's a small but comfortable house. Everything you need is there, even a barbecue. Good beds. A warm welcome. You have your own dedicated parking space and only a few minutes walk to the town centre. So far so good. The 1st floor is horrible creaking. Garden as well as house need some maintenance. Leaking tap in the kitchen, fan in the shower out of order and several lamp bulbs were broken. The shower head and hose were very dirty and above 1 meter was a lot of dust. Overal a good holiday house if you are not too critical.

Response on behalf of the Owner; The House was and is cleaned to a very good standard, certainly not dusty and dirty. The fan in the bathroom is and was working. The grass had not been cut due to rain and stormy weather hence too wet and muddy to walk on. At that time of their stay there was a power cut in Buckfastleigh which may have resulted in some light bulbs blowing, however plenty of spares in the Living room drawers. Two notes were left by the Housekeeper one to offer to do the clean/change of beds midway through the guests stay as it was a two-week stay and a second note offering to attend to the garden weather permitting. Her mobile number was on both notes and the guests rang to say they did not want her to come in. The plumber has been very busy and is due to fix the dripping tap on the 12th of October.

As a family of 3 small boys under 5 , the house was too small and we found it to not be very child friendly!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I’m not sure why we were given such a low score. Regarding the comment on not being child friendly. There is a Cot, highchair, enclosed garden, library of children books, DVD, toys and games provided. We welcome comments to improve our service but in this case as no specifics have been given it's difficult to comment.
