Wonderful cottage in a very pretty location but a very busy road, didn’t really interfere with our holiday though and everything we needed in the cottages kitchen.

Definitely in need of some TLC. Plumbing needs attention, leak from bathroom upstairs into dining room below, then puddle of stagnant water from dishwasher which we hadn't used. Furniture tired and needs replacing (dining room table unstable, chairs uncomfortable, and sofa little support) along with some of the crockery which was cracked. Downstairs bedroom window was stuck and couldn't be opened so no air at night, quite a step into the downstairs shower which my elderly mother struggled to step into, then the extractor was exceptionally loud and was somewhere where you couldn't enjoy a leisurely shower. Parking for two cars, yes if you have 2 small smart cars! On the plus side pretty to look at from the outside and the key holder who met us on arrival was very nice and tried his best to help us with the water issues.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We are sorry to hear your elderly Mother struggled to use the shower and chairs. Swiss Cottage has a ground floor bedroom and a ground floor shower room. However we do not advertise a walk in shower nor do we advertise a ground floor wet room nor do we advertise level access. All these are features which you can select in your search on cottages.com. We hope you will do this in future to ensure that the correct property is chosen by you. Alternatively you can phone cottages.com directly and their staff will only be too pleased to help you make the correct selection to meet your needs. The extractor fan in the shower room is necessary to remove condensation. The sash window is openable at the top. I will look at the crockery again next time I'm there. I have replacements, so replace when necessary. I asked for the caretaker to go out the same day and look at the problem with the dishwasher and he fixed the problem for you. I also organised for a plumber to go out to the property regarding the drip from the ceiling as soon as you reported it. The shower cartridge in the shower in the upstairs bathroom had just been replaced and he rectified a loose connection. Regarding parking, we are lucky to have an area for parking in front of Swiss Cottage on a street, which leads to the beach and Golden Cap. We are able to park our medium sized car aswell as a contractors van at the front of Swiss Cottage when we visit. There is also some on street parking, subject to availability, close to the property.

We enjoyed our stay here. As a largish family group (5 adults, 2 children, and the dog), it suited us fine. It is spacious and comfortable, and the location is excellent - Seatown is a great place, and Chideock is convenient for getting to other places. But the property is in need of some refurbishment. Whilst it is perfectly clean and reasonably equipped, it is dated and showing its age, and needs some maintenance and refreshment. Opening windows to get fresh air is a major exercise, and the obsession with locks and keys is a pain! Minor niggles (like the shower head that constantly drips cold water on you when you are sitting in a warm bath - or only leaving 3 dishwasher tablets for a family for a week - or kitchen work surfaces that stain as soon as you look at them and nothing to clean them with) may seem petty, but they are the sort of details that need attention. Don't misunderstand us - we don't want to be negative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a great holiday. But the cottage is quite expensive, and it it is not quite up to the standards one expects these days.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for your feedback. It is good to hear that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Swiss Cottage and found its location excellent. Thank you for advising us about the dripping shower in the bathroom. The plumber has been called in and the shower cartridge is in need of replacement and has been put on order. A full inspection and a health and safety audit is carried out annually by cottages.com. One of their recent requirements was that provision is made for child safety locks to some windows. We provide a few items for the initial start of your holiday such as a couple dishwasher tablets, liquid soap and washing up liquid. There is a convenience store in Chideock and a superstore not far away. Bridport has numerous useful shops.
