Our second visit to Swiss Cottage and it hadn’t changed a bit! Comfortable stay in a roomy, well positioned cottage. The village has lovely places to eat and drink and the beach is only a short walk away. Convenient location in which to explore the local area. Unfortunately cleanliness not quite as good as last time. The downstairs bathroom, as someone commented before had a horrid smell to it. We live in an old property and appreciate the quirks and character of an older house but feel the cottage could do with a little TLC. It was a good base for a lovely holiday though.

Response on behalf of the owner; Good to know that you had a lovely holiday at Swiss Cottage, which is in a great location and the beach is only a short walk away. I have had the drains to the downstairs shower room thoroughly flushed through. Swiss Cottage is a roomy cottage, which benefits from a ground floor bedroom and ground floor shower room.

Swiss Cottage is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location, we have stayed here several times although very disappointed with the cleanliness in different parts of the cottage this visit.High chair was very poor cleanliness, food down the inside of highchair, and the downstairs toilet smelt of urine (so may be a leak)! to point out a couple as Icould go on as there were others areas, including the bedding ... Please note the washing machine opens whilst spinning! Sorry to provide negative feedback, but if Cottages.Com is not aware how can the cottage improve?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for informing me about the washer dryer. I tried it on various washing cycles with no problems. However I then discovered that the door could be opened mid cycle as the safety catch had failed. A new washer dryer is on order and will be installed ASAP. Apologies re the highchair, which is cleaned when it is put away. There is no problem with the toilet. Actually the vast majority of the twenty one sets of linen have been recently replaced. Swiss Cottage is a beautiful Grade 2 listed cottage in a fantastic location within walking distance to the beach, Golden Cap, which forms part of the Jurassic Coast, and village pubs. There are lots of things to see and do and good local amenities nearby.

Wonderful cottage in a very pretty location but a very busy road, didn’t really interfere with our holiday though and everything we needed in the cottages kitchen.

Definitely in need of some TLC. Plumbing needs attention, leak from bathroom upstairs into dining room below, then puddle of stagnant water from dishwasher which we hadn't used. Furniture tired and needs replacing (dining room table unstable, chairs uncomfortable, and sofa little support) along with some of the crockery which was cracked. Downstairs bedroom window was stuck and couldn't be opened so no air at night, quite a step into the downstairs shower which my elderly mother struggled to step into, then the extractor was exceptionally loud and was somewhere where you couldn't enjoy a leisurely shower. Parking for two cars, yes if you have 2 small smart cars! On the plus side pretty to look at from the outside and the key holder who met us on arrival was very nice and tried his best to help us with the water issues.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner. We are sorry to hear your elderly Mother struggled to use the shower and chairs. Swiss Cottage has a ground floor bedroom and a ground floor shower room. However we do not advertise a walk in shower nor do we advertise a ground floor wet room nor do we advertise level access. All these are features which you can select in your search on cottages.com. We hope you will do this in future to ensure that the correct property is chosen by you. Alternatively you can phone cottages.com directly and their staff will only be too pleased to help you make the correct selection to meet your needs. The extractor fan in the shower room is necessary to remove condensation. The sash window is openable at the top. I will look at the crockery again next time I'm there. I have replacements, so replace when necessary. I asked for the caretaker to go out the same day and look at the problem with the dishwasher and he fixed the problem for you. I also organised for a plumber to go out to the property regarding the drip from the ceiling as soon as you reported it. The shower cartridge in the shower in the upstairs bathroom had just been replaced and he rectified a loose connection. Regarding parking, we are lucky to have an area for parking in front of Swiss Cottage on a street, which leads to the beach and Golden Cap. We are able to park our medium sized car aswell as a contractors van at the front of Swiss Cottage when we visit. There is also some on street parking, subject to availability, close to the property.
