Just 2 miles from the beautiful picture postcard village of Thornton-le-Dale

Summertree Farm are positioned in a secluded, quiet area just 2 miles from the beautiful, picture postcard village of Thornton-le-Dale in the North York Moors.  These two lovely, modern cottages have been converted from original farmyard buildings and date back to the 1940’s. One of the cottages is on the ground floor and sleeps two, making them ideal for people with limited mobility. The other cottage is an upside down cottage sleeping four people with the spacious open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area on the first floor to take advantage of the lovely views. Both cottages are very well-equipped and have a lot of character and charm and can be booked separately or together for larger parties. Summertree Farm provide a perfect base for couples and families looking to explore the beautiful areas around North Yorkshire and the pretty villages dotted around the North Yorkshire Moors. The Granary was well presented in a beautiful location. The necessary baby equipment was provided which was in excellent condition and very useful. The local amenities were a short drive away with access to shops, cafes and pubs. There were Lots of lovely walks close by which we enjoyed with our dogs. Our favourite being Dalby Forest. The owners were very polite and shared their local knowledge with things for us to see and do. We Thank You and look forward to visiting again in the future.

We were taken in by Bob and Bernadette as a late booking due to cancellation of both our Xmas bookings, and they were not fazed by our dogs coming too.

Wonderful cottage. So well equiped, we had everything we needed. A warm welcome from the owner with cakes and wine was much appreciated. Would definitely visit again if we are in the area.

The Granary is pefectly situated between Pickering and Malton. Thornton le Dale is nearby. The owners are very nice, the kitchen is well-equipped, the rain shower fantastic and everything was clean. We would have preferred to know about the borehole water beforehand so that we could have made an informed decision. I have an acute sense of smell and it really bothered me. The double bed was quite small (my husband is 6'1'') and for our taste too firm. There is no direct access to the garden. The entry is at the side of the cottage. The garden is fully enclosed which is always great when you bring dogs. Parking is right in front of the cottage which was great. The cottages are lovely to look at but not the clutter and improvised recycling station next to them. All in all, we enjoyed our stay but these are some things that we noticed.

Overall, a good-value stay with friendly on-site owners. Some honest comments (which are not major bugbears but were points that occurred to us): Next to a road with not much traffic but some noise, completely enclosed small private rear garden accessed down side of cottage, water comes from borehole so very soft and a taint of sulphur (which I personally liked, but rest of family didn't drink), double bed is very firm, twin singles very comfortable and one settee is quite tired. Excellent shower (unusual in holiday cottages), loads of lovely hot water and lots of helpful extras (like tea bags, sugar, cleaning products, handsoap), good towels, most utensils (no scissors or good sharp knives; usual for a holiday cottage), excellent vacuum cleaner (that didn't smell of dogs, as they usually do), large fridge-freezer, good dishwasher, reasonable TV (always on the small-size in holiday cottages), good choice of DVDs and books, excellent carpets and flooring throughout. The front of the cottage isn't ideal for sitting out; in a yard which is a bit weedy and is slightly untidy and the rear garden is lovely to sit in late afternoon when the sun gets to it, but slightly awkward to access as you come out of the front door and round the side (there's no rear door to the garden) past owners collection of lawnmowers and bits of garden furniture and wood. The location is good, 10 minutes from Malton, Pickering, Dalby Forest, Castle Howard etc, not far to Whitby and Scarborough.

Excellent stay for peace and quiet . Hosts very amenable and couldn't do enough to make your stay a very pleasant one . Excellent for nearby visits eg. Whitby . Scarborough and York . Would recommend to anyone a visit here
