Description

Situated on a horse farm, this fantastic property is an ideal base for exploring the county of Northumberland.

Stublick View Gatehouse (ref UKC3410) was newly built in 2018 and is all on one level. The cottage boasts an open plan kitchen, dining and living room with a huge picture window offering views for miles. Wooden floors, beams and a high ceiling give the property a feeling of warmth and comfort and the modern kitchen is practical and well-equipped. The large bedroom has a kingsize bed and another large window giving those fabulous views again. The en-suite shower room has been finished to a super standard and boasts a large shower cubicle and heated towel rail too.
These two, beautiful cottages boast fabulous views over stunning countryside and are nestled in a great location, on the owner’s small equestrian yard, for getting to know the local area. Just outside the village of Langley-on-Tyne and only a short drive from the market town of Hexham, there are plenty of opportunities for walkers and cyclists to enjoy the many beautiful towns, villages, castles, forts and historic attractions that are all located close by. The celebrated writer, Catherine Cookson’s former home is only a few minutes’ walk away and Langley Castle is just under 2 miles. There is a fishing lake just over a quarter of a mile away and plenty of excellent golf courses in the area too. Only 7 miles away, Hexham is a thriving town that boasts plenty of history as well as shops, cafés, restaurants and attractions including Hexham Old Gaol and Hexham Abbey. Perfect for guests who enjoy visiting historical sites, Hadrian’s Wall is situated very close by with popular Roman settlements and sites dotted along it. Housesteads Roman Fort and Vindolanda are only 12 miles away as is the National Landscape Discovery Centre called The Sill which is great to visit at any time of year. Popular Northumbrian villages including Corbridge, Bardon Mill, Haydon Bridge and Haltwhistle, all within an easy 30 minutes’ drive and offer plenty of traditional shops and places to eat. A little further afield but still within a one hour drive, guests will be able to visit Newcastle upon Tyne, Gateshead for the Metrocentre, Beamish Living Museum, the cathedral city of Durham and the award-winning beaches of the North East coast including Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. Great place to stay, very comfortable, very clean. Only moan is no WiFi but that turned out to be good as I found better things to do. Lovely people, beautiful countryside. So many historical places to visit. Chester's fort, vindolanda, army museum, housesteads. Plus Lindisfarne and bamburgh castle are only 85 miles north. Had awesome holiday overall.

This is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed at. We had all weathers thrown at us; snow, blizzards, thick fog, rain, some sunshine but we were warm and snug and the snow just made the lovely views even better. Gillian is the perfect hostess. If you go out of season a four wheel drive car would be ideal and take some food in case you get snowed in as we did. This is my favourite area in the whole country. We would be happy to go back anytime and could try out the new wooden chalet bungalow which is nearly ready for occupation nearby.

Great location. Friendly & very helpful owner next door. Good local pub restaurant just over a mile away but did not walk there as its a very busy little road. Would have been useful to have some current information in the cottage as most of it was out of date, but Gillian has only been renting out since summer 2016 so this is a learning curve. It most certainly wouldn't prevent us from booking this place again. The cottage itself was just like staying in someones home & indeed thats just what it was. It's a bit dated but had a lovely friendly feel to it. Probably needs to be de-personalised really!
