Converted from a former barn, this pair of holiday cottages adjoins the owner’s home. Contemporary in style yet retaining some of the original features, the properties stand to the side of the B5305 and allow good road access to the Lake District National Park, The Solway Coast, Hadrian’s Wall and Scotland. It has something for everyone; history, art galleries, bird watching, outdoor pursuits, foot and cycle paths, a busy calendar of events with festivals, craft fairs, farmer’s markets and traditional agricultural shows. Relax and enjoy driving through the spectacular scenery and stop off at one of the attractive villages to sample the local food and hospitality. Caldbeck Common and the village of Caldbeck (4 miles) offer a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. The historic city of Carlisle (10 miles) is just south of Scotland. Bassenthwaite Lake and the Lakeland town of Keswick (19 miles) offer further attractions to enjoy. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

    What a lovely location. Fab cottage. Compact and cosy. Spotlessly clean. Everything you wanted at hand. The main road was a problem with my dog. However, back garden huge and great for the dog. Spent many an hour sitting on back garden benches watching sunsets and bueatiful scenery.

    Excellent holiday cottage. Had everything we needed, the owners were helpful and it is a great place to explore from - the lakes, the Solway, Carlisle, Northumberland are all within a short drive.

    A little gem. Clean, cosy and well equipped. Ideal location for sightseeing Cumbria, but with great walks and beautiful countryside straight out of the door if you want.All topped off with a warm and friendly welcome. I will definitely be returning.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard Cottage. The cottage is well equipped. It is ideally situated for Bassenthwaite lake, Silloth, Carlisle and even Scotland is not too far away. The nearest shops and supermarket are in Wigton which is about 3 miles from the cottage. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us, but that did not deter us from having a relaxing time. Maisie, our Westie, enjoyed her stay too, although I recommend keeping your dog on a lead when walking down the lane. We hope to return. Thank you for your hospitality Joan and Bob.
