Description

Enjoy a spot of fishing on-site, explore one of the many walking paths in the area or spend a day relaxing on the beach.

Carefully converted to allow for maximum space and light, these three single-storey barn conversions stand within the owner’s working stud farm, and offer the ideal base for couples, walking groups and families wishing to enjoy a farm lifestyle, yet are within easy driving distance to many attractions, towns and villages. All of the barn conversions have high vaulted ceilings and plentiful beams, and have spacious open-plan living areas. Little Barn (ref UKC2539) is detached, and Chiddock Cottage (ref UKC2540) and Chidley Cottage (ref UKC2541) adjoin one another in an L shape. All of the properties have rustic concrete floors with rugs, and are furnished using natural woods of differing origins. Outside, there is a decked sitting-out area for each property, a shared enclosed courtyard area with raised planting beds where vegetables, herbs and fruit grow, a circular central feature with fire pit, an outdoor pizza oven and BBQ. There is also a small farm shop, a rustic play area for children and freshly laid eggs daily from the on-site chickens! For guests who may wish to bring a horse, the owners offer livery available by prior arrangement.

Discover scenic walks from the door, Midgham Farm Copse lies at the end of a track within 40 acres of woodland along the Avon Valley path, which leads all the way from Christchurch to Salisbury. For those that like the outdoor lifestyle this is a great place, as there is on-site archery, axe throwing and fishing in the River Avon (licence required). Nearby there is horse riding, the New Forest Water Park for cable wakeboarding, an aqua park, kayaking and other water sports. For those bringing dogs, there are plenty of excellent walks all around, many of which offer great bird and wildlife spotting.

Places to visit include Alderholt Mill, which has a working watermill open to visitors and also offers cream teas at the weekend during the summer, and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, which has orienteering, cycle hire, golf, forest Segway, walking groups, canoeing, petanque and craftmaking. Avon Heath Country Park is also within easy driving distance and is ideal for keen ramblers. The New Forest National Park provides miles of scenic walks and a network of bridle paths and footpaths, and you can often find ponies, donkeys and cattle roaming freely. The charming town of Fordingbridge, which has a host of shops, cafés and eateries, and the gentle flowing River Avon are also both nearby. Ringwood also has a good selection of shops and restaurants, and is about a 15-minute drive away. These barn conversions are convenient for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour and the coast, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Adventure Wonderland, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, New Forest Wildlife Park and maritime Southampton. Beach 15 miles. Shop on-site, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Christmas at this excellent barn conversion was superb and the addition of a dressed Christmas tree, welcoming mince pies, biscuits and Prosecco all added to the festive atmosphere. We can see that visits during other seasons will be equally lovely especially with hosts as excellent as Sammy and Henry. Every thought has gone into providing all that you will need.....truly you will just need to bring your food drink and toiletries.... the rest is waiting for you!

Great place to stay to explore the New Forest. Fairly close to Fordingbridg. Well equipped. Fantastic to pick vegetables. Loved feeding the pigs.

This cottage was even better than the pictures. Absolutely stunning. We loved everything about it. It has absolutely everything you need and more. My children loved feeding the pigs and goats and collecting eggs from the chickens (those hens lay a lot of eggs!) The garden was fully enclosed so we were able to let our dog out without any worries. The pizza oven and BBQ in the garden was a lovely bonus as were the delicious vegetables and raspberries in the garden. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and well equipped. The location was a short drive from Fordingbridge High Street where they had a Coop and Tesco. However, at the farm there is a well equipped and reasonably priced Honesty Shop where you could top up your supplies. Lots of lovely walks around for children and dogs. The farm had a lovely little woods attached that was small enough and enclosed that any children could go and play. Also play areas for the children and pony grooming available. I would definitely recommend and have already done so. Thank you Sammy.

Chiddock Cottage was a perfect place to stay for us as a family. It is very peaceful there with lovely surroundings. We were very well looked after with all possible luxuries catered for... prosecco on arrival, nespresso coffee machine with pods etc. There is a small honesty shop on site that seemed to have everything I needed/had forgotten plus some extras I wouldn’t have thought about. Our 5 year old daughter loved feeding the pigs, sheep and goats which she was welcome to do as well as collecting herself an egg a day from the chickens, and meeting the horses. The private gardens that the three holiday cottages opened on to were enclosed so our daughter had free access at all times and were beautifully landscaped with raised beds containing pretty flowers and vegetables and herbs that we were encouraged to help ourselves to each day (which we did). Also there was a pizza oven and bbq in the garden we could use already stocked with wood and firelighters. The owners were incredibly friendly and always around if you needed anything and supplied garden games to keep us entertained and happily let our daughter “help” with gardening and jobs. The walk from the cottage into Fordingbridge was all off road on well maintained pretty paths across the fields and took about half an hour with coffee shops, pubs, shops and river paddling at the end. A short drive away we visited Buley and Moors Valley Country Park for some fantastic biking all off-road and suitable for the whole family. A great holiday and I would definitely recommend it! 😁

The owner is very friendly and welcoming, Chiddock Cottage is lovely, so much so, we just wanted t get back early and chill in teh beautiful garden, not a yard as described on the site. We picked all vegetables for our dinner.

An excellent place to stay; rural but not isolated, set amongst lovely countryside. The cottage is wonderfully spacious, very comfortable and finished to a very high standard. We would definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending this property as a place to stay.
