I stayed at this house in 2018 and 2019 and the house was not as clean as would be expected for the money paid. Furniture is outdated and the blue suite in the back room is so very worn. The carpets need cleaning and some of the electrical outlets did not work. The whole place needs a good clean. The shower the water was not running away properly and when I took the top off the outlet it was full of hair and mold. The washing machine dispenser where you put detergent and fabric softener was disgusting and I had to clean it before I could use it.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We do our utmost to meet our guest’s needs and requirements, and always ask them to contact us with any problems. Three months ago all the carpets were professionally cleaned due to the next guests being allergic to dogs. The leather suite in the back room is of a high quality and has no tears, scuffs and the cushions and seats are firm. All electrical sockets have been checked, all were working when switched on and the extension lead plugged in. When the guest reported a problem with the Wi-Fi this was successfully rectified within half an hour. We are sorry the powder drawer in the washing machine hadn’t been checked but we will do so in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Marston House which is a very comfortable, homely property. It has a great location for exploring the local area. We visited Bygone Times and Heskin Hall, both are a must for shopping. Next door is Derby House which has a lovely coffee shop and even more shopping. The property has a lovely garden at the rear which is great for dogs. The owners were very helpful and kindly left a few treats for our arrival. Would definitely return if we are staying in the area in the future

We were really happy about the stairlift and wheelchair that was offered to us by the owner. They were very useful in the first week, as my wife was recovering from a recent knee operation. Problem with the sewage was quickly and adequately solved. Kitchen could have been cleaner (some pans and cutlery seems a little greasy). Nice please, would surely visit again if we went to this region again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for reviewing Marstan House, I hope your wife is now feeling better, and glad to hear the stair lift and wheelchair was useful. Sorry there were problems with the drains but resolved this as soon as we could, previous guests still put wipes and other things down the toilet even though we have notices up asking them not to. We will in the future check all the cupboards and drawers to ensure that previous guests have cleaned pans and cutlery they have used. Looking forward to seeing you in the future.
