Leacroft Cottages offers luxury accommodation with three beautiful cottages nestled around a large courtyard. All the cottages have a private garden with seating areas overlooking stunning open fields where guests can relax and plan the next spectacular walk, right from your doorstep. The owners of Leacroft Cottages have invested a lot of care and thought into the design of these holiday cottages to make a wonderful and luxurious base to stay. Throughout the cottages you can see the eye for detail with the co-ordinated soft furnishings and excellent kitchen and bathroom fittings throughout.
Situated in Yoxall, a busy little village on the banks of the River Swarbourn in the heart of Staffordshire and within The National Forest, the area offers a wonderful array of amenities and a selection of charming walks. Just 9 miles from Burton upon Trent you can enjoy a fascinating day discovering the art of brewing beer, whilst the National Memorial Arboretum is just 6 miles away and definitely worth a visit. Also, a short drive away you will find the lovely market towns of Lichfield and Ashbourne. Lichfield retains its original character with a beautiful cathedral, Samuel Johnson’s home, a centre dedicated to Erasmus Darwin, St Mary’s Centre, where the Staffordshire Millennium Tapestries are on permanent display, and wonderful places to stop and enjoy some food. The market town of Ashbourne is worth visiting, rich with its original cobbled lanes, old market stalls and grand Georgian buildings which are home to a good selection of restaurants, interesting shops and traditional coaching inns.
The peace and quiet of the Peak District, with its maze of footpaths and cycle routes, is within easy reach, as is the magnificent Cannock Chase. Both of these are famous for being Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering walking, cycling and horse riding activities. The National Trust’s Dovedale Valley is a wonderful place to visit being a renowned beauty spot and can be found within a pleasant drive, offering excellent walking and cycling opportunities amongst spectacular scenery. A short drive away you will discover Tamworth Castle, the ancient capital of Mercia. Take time out to visit one of the local historic estates including Chatsworth House, Shugborough Hall, Kedleston Hall and the nearby Sudbury Hall. For the thrill seekers don’t forget the fabulous Alton Towers Theme Park, a day out for all the family. Leacroft Cottages really are the ideal spot for a cosy, country getaway with a plethora of things to do at any time of the year. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Lovely cottage, immaculate and toasty warm. Really helpful owner and we would be delighted to return at some point. A very minor point - it could just do with some short tumblers and a big frying pan!

Stayed over Halloween half term break. great location for us- quiet and in the countryside. Close to drayton manor and Alton towers. Windows really draughty and one of the bedrooms downstairs was quite cold as underfloor heating only working in patches but overall house was fantastic with lots of little extra touches. Would definitely recommend

We had a lovely time, thank you. The only thing we would say could be improved would be some slightly better pans for the kitchen but that’s a tiny thing. Would definitely recommend.

Owners were very friendly and the cottage was comfortable. Beds were fine. Showers were ok but could do with a lot more power. Fridge very small for a 3 bedroom property and we found that it was either not cold enough or frozen at the back. Equipment provided in the kitchen was more basic than we had experienced in previous holiday cottages. Absolutely no kitchen supplies such as vinegar, ketchup etc left from previous guests. This is the first property we have stayed at where the cupboards were bare. Non stick coating on the pots and pans were badly damaged and needed replacing. We bought our own utensils and pots and pans on the first day. We left those at the property. As the property is listed as luxury we had high expectations. Location is ok, lots of towns and national trust properties within a short drive. Description of the cottage states that there are fantastic walks form the property but we didn't really find this to be the case and very little information provided in the welcome pack. It is possible to search on google but more personal information on the local area from the owners would have been appreciated. Bike racks would have been nice to have. Very little in walking distance but we didn't mind as we went out every day. Tiny convenience store, post office and a local pub. We didn't try the pub as the reviews on tripadvisor were so bad. Great cycle trails at Cannock Chase and lots of national trust properties to visit with dog friendly walks. Towns nearby all worth a visit. We enjoyed our visit and found lots to do.

This was such a wonderful family holiday and I hope we'll stay here again. We were principally going to Alton Towers while in the area, which is a very easy 30 - 40 min drive. The house is just lovely, very well-appointed (could do with some kitchen scissors and a BBQ if you wanted to improve upon perfection!) and just down the road from a few shops and pubs - there is a bigger supermarket and a great Indian restaurant 10 minutes away in Barton. Really can't fault it and wouldn't want to - a fantastic holiday rental.

We stayed here as part of a group reunion we organise every year. The property is modern and well presented and immaculately clean. It's well kitted out in the kitchen and all bedrooms have an ensuite. Bedrooms are comfortable too and there is underfloor heating. Lots of hot water and good showers, plus a fantastic large bath on the upper floor. The views over the countryside are lovely, the open wild flower field at the back is great and there is a lovely large open garden space which would be excellent for kids to run around in. The cottage is very quiet, especially at night and it's easy to listen to the wonderful bird life around. We were disappointed at the welcome pack and folder. The pack was six ferrero rocher and a bottle of wine. Whilst that is always well received, including something such as a local cake or a packet of biscuits is much more useful and welcome, so that you can enjoy those with your first cuppa on arrival. The folder had all the info you need for the property, however there was nothing about things to see or do in the local area except for a leaflet about the National Memorial Arboretum. Very few recommendations for places to eat out or shop either. There are no games or books at all at the property so it was good we had brought some with us. Having these is a nice touch and always well received. WiFi is slow, however the owners are awaiting BT to upgrade the connections as the rural area becomes better connected. It does work though, although we had problems streaming the football final from BT sport. Seating area in the lounge could be better. As the property sleeps six the seating should better reflect that. Replacing the current L shaped sofa with two three seaters would be a vast improvement as the current offering is not comfortable to sit or lounge on for any period of time when six of you are there.

Spacious and comfortable, Swallow Cottage was well equipped for our family holiday over an unusually cold and wet Easter week. Cooking Easter Sunday roast was as easy as at home. Each bedroom has its own en-suite so ideal for immediate hot showers after our orienteering races on Cannock Chase and muddy walks in a flooded Dovedale - no discussion on who has first shower. Well worth the higher price than we usually choose.
