Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

A stunning cottage, close to the centre of Rye with its large selection of pubs restaurants and cafes.

Follow in the footsteps of Elizabeth I and spend some time exploring the beautiful Cinque port market town of Rye. In 1573 she bestowed the title Rye Royale. Stay in this well thought out and stylish holiday cottage which is just a 6 minute walk from the centre of the town, with its large selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes. You could discover for yourself why many authors, musicians, artists and celebrities have chosen to settle here. Rye is one of the best preserved medieval towns in England, despite being the haunt of the notorious smugglers, The Hawkhurst Gang. Visit The Mermaid Inn, their famous hideout, where the cellars date back to 1156. Visit the Rye Museum and climb St Mary’s Tower for breathtaking views across to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Winchelsea. See Lamb House, the home of Henry James and later E. F. Benson, and where they filmed the recent production of ’Mapp and Lucia’. Another great film location is Camber Sands and going in the other direction towards Hastings where ’Foyles War’ was filmed. There are also connections by train to London. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. Shower room with toilet. First floor: 1 double bedroom with Z-bed (for alternative sleeping).

Electric wood burner in living room included. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. 32" Freeview TV. DVD. Gas cooker. Microwave. Washing by arrangement with owner. Fridge/freezer. Wi-fi. Terrace with furniture. Barbecue. Parking (1 car). Welcome pack. No smoking.

Lovely pet friendly cottage in a great location. Situated down a quite unmade road, attached to the owners home, you are left alone but they are there if you need them. There was a towel and treats left for our Jack Russell's arrival. The cottage was very clean with everything we wanted, with the nice addition of milk, tea, coffee, salt and vinegar, which is normally missing from so many other places we have stayed. Close to footpaths and parks for long dog walks. Situated just 5 minutes from the town with is interesting history, windmill, supermarket and plenty of places to eat. We didn't need to use the car during our stay. We rarely visit the same area twice, but if we do, we will definitely go back to Kiln cottage, without a doubt.

We had a short break at the cottage. It's not wow, but very clean and has all you need to have a comfatble stay. It's a 5-10 min walk to Rye and all the shops pubs and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would return as very reasonably priced.

Enjoyed our stay . The cottage is a good size for 2 . Not having a pet I was relieved that it didn’t have a trace of pets . Very comfortable bed and good size bedroom . Great location for walking into rye .

Had a lovely time. Rye is one of our favourite places to visit and Kiln Cottage was exactly what we wanted. Cosy and near to pubs, restaurants and coast. Would definitely stay again when we visit Rye in the future. Owners were helpful but unintruisive.

Great location, but kitchen poor if you want to self cater. No room to wash up, no dishwasher not even a drip rack. Having bedroom upstairs and toilet down was very inconvenient and one had to draw the front room curtains if you had a shower! Also dormer roof very annoying if you are tall - safety helmet recommended!

My husband and I felt really comfortable in Kiln Cottage. Our hosts were very kind and helpful without being intrusive in any way. If the weather wouldn't have been as good as it was, we might have missed a more comfy sofa. Otherwise, there was everything we needed and more :) - including a vase of flowers.

Nice cottage in a great spot - its location is ideal for exploring the town. We had some great days out walking from the front door on local footpaths and to the beach. The cottage catered well for a dog with towels, treats and stair gate provided. It's not a big cottage downstairs and the kitchen is quite simple and basic with a small fridge and not much cupboard space for your food. But unless you want to cook every night and so need to do a big food shop, then this wouldn't be a problem. There's a supermarket 10 minutes easy walk away. Owners are next door and very pleasant, and leave you to enjoy your holiday. This cottage has a nice courtyard out the back and we enjoyed some pleasant evenings sitting outside. The bed is comfy and upstairs is spacious, the bedroom could do with a wardrobe being provided but we managed quite easily for a week with the hangers provided. Overall a perfectly nice cottage in a great location and we felt we paid a very fair price for the week. Thank you very much, we enjoyed ourselves.
