Junipers was quite comfortable & suited the five of us. The bedrooms were bright, although the beds could do with new mattresses. We also found used tissues under the beds. The local area was very pretty & we enjoyed our time at Junipers

We had a lovely break. The cottage felt comfortable. Carpets are in need of replacing and the mattresses on the double bed and downstairs room were very thin but we still slept well. (Mind your head on stairs!) Kitchen was well equipped so no bother making a meal and they supplied some cleaning bits which was nice. The garden is small and pretty. We felt the cottage fitted the five of us well and felt homely. Very peaceful village - most passing traffic was on horseback! No local shop so stock up well beforehand or order a supermarket delivery. Takeaways don’t deliver out here. The local pub was welcoming, good food and the most gorgeous beer garden. The village does have a very well equipped playground for children which our three enjoyed each day. Plenty to keep all entertained. We enjoyed our time here and at the local beaches and the subtropical gardens. Best cream tea at Abbotsbury in the Old School House. A truly relaxing break.

The postitives: Puncknowle is a quiet, picturesque village set in beautiful Dorset countryside. The local pub, the Crown Inn has a friendly service with a great selection of ales and excellent food. The negatives: Juniper's Cottage, is quaint and quirky and has great potential but is in desperate need of some TLC and is dirty. When reading the cottage's guest book as far back as 2014, it is very disappointing to see that the lack of cleanliness has been reported every year since then and that problems with the cottage do not appear to have been remedied i.e. radiator in upstairs double bedroom did not work in 2015 and it still doesn't, two broken slats in downstairs bed reported last year are still broken, the shower becomes a trickle whenever the toilet is flushed or the washing machine is on. Like many guests who had also reported before us, upon arrival we had to clean the cutlery, crockery, glasses, cooking utensils and saucepans before using them at all. One shouldn't have to do a mini-spring clean upon arrival! Stained carpets, cobwebs hanging from every ceiling, grime at the bottom of the cutlery drawer, badly stained pillows and worse of all, suspected bedbug droppings on the mattress and mattress covers of two of the beds upstairs. No WIFI and you need to bring your own towels. Big cracks in plaster in lounge and there are signs of wood worm infestation on the stairway and in the bathroom. Overall, not impressed by the cottage at all.
