This boathouse is an ideal romantic break for 2 in an idyllic setting with views up and down the lake.

This architect-designed boathouse enjoys a beautifully quiet location on the banks of Rudyard Lake. Set on arguably the best spot, it has stunning views up and down the lake. From the first floor balcony of the boathouse, visitors can take it all in and, on a still day, observe the surrounding lush woodland’s inverted reflection in the lake with all its colour, like in a mirror. Rudyard Lake is abundant in wildlife and offers various activities including birdwatching, fishing, sailing, canoeing, walking and cycling. Hire boats available on the lake. Rudyard Lake is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park in the Staffordshire moorlands and is surrounded by blanket tree preservation order. Other places of interest within easy driving distance include the market town of Leek, Macclesfield, The Potteries, Biddulph Grange, Buxton, Tittesworth Reservoir and The Roaches. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub 2½ miles.

Access via first floor: Open-plan living room/kitchen with breakfast bar. Steep stairs to ground floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed, TV and en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Lovely well equipped little boat house. Clean , warm and inviting. Enough blinds and curtains to shut the world out if you so wish. Fantastic location to get away from it all.

A truly magical place that has me going back every year. I feel refreshed and relaxed by the karmic design and location of the boathouse. Perfect for walking and lovely towns and villages are nearby

Inglenook is a beautifully appointed bijou holiday home. We loved the privacy; the facilities were all very comfortable, and everything we needed was provided. The fact that it's doggy friendly is really refreshing - it's clearly had lots of dogs visiting from reading the visitor book, but it's really clean and well kept, so you wouldn't know unless you knew!

The boat house is compact but fine for two with great views from all round. Steep incline down to the house but enclosed and secluded. Good facilities inside although sofas do need replacing and the bath is quite high so can be hard to get in and out. There is a hairdryer at the property but no plug near a mirror so hard to see what you are doing. My main issue was clothes storage and storage in general of cases. No real wardrobe or drawers in bedroom.

Second visit and will be returning. Beautiful location. Remote and quiet which is what we love! Good WiFi speeds which is something we have to have as self employed. If could be improved upon in any way would be the introduction of a hot tub. Didn’t want to leave!

Wow! amazing location, peaceful and an excellent place to recharge your emotional batteries. Dog walks abound. some lovely local places to visit. And the local town is a friendly and vibrant place to pop in to.

What an incredible place to stay in such a beautiful location. We found it hard to part with the place - It was clean, tidy, homely, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The view over the lake was just stunning and to sit out on the balcony in the evenings with a couple of drinks in hand, looking out over the lake and it’s wildlife was just perfect! Certainly will be booking again soon! Thanks again Joe! Donna

Very modernised place in a stunning location. Lovely and quiet but some noise from practising sailing boats and rowing clubs occasionally. Joe the contact was very helpful with any query but a full guide to the facilities would have been useful. Overall an idyllic stay in a one off location.

A lovely location and a beautiful part of the world. The accommodation is small but quirky and well-designed overall. There were a few touches missing which might be nice to add to make the place feel really special, eg. larger bath towels; some chopping boards in the kitchen; a cloth to wipe down the kitchen surfaces; clean and comfortable cushions to go in the outside chairs (the ones in the utility building were in very poor condition); a large mirror in the bedroom near a power socket; an outdoor dining table so you can have a proper meal out there (there is a small table but it is only suitable for cups or glasses); a folder of information on the location and nearby things to see and do - instead of the pile of leaflets by the staircase and visitors' notes on which pubs they had enjoyed. Also, we bought some feather pillows in Leek as the pillows provided were foam and lumpy and very uncomfortable. During our stay the Wifi was not working for half of the week (though Joe did get it fixed) and the tumble drier was not working at all.
