Inside, the pavilion has been thoughtfully curated to create a warm yet contemporary space, celebrating Welsh craftsmanship and artisan design. High ceilings, wooden cladding and dark oak flooring give a sense of understated luxury, while carefully chosen artwork and antiques add character throughout. The open-plan living space combines a super-king bedroom area with a comfortable sitting and dining space, centred around a wood burner for cosy evenings in. A fully fitted kitchen offers everything needed for a relaxed stay, while a separate twin bedroom to the rear makes this an ideal choice for couples or a few friends. Step outside onto the private terrace, complete with seating, fire pit and BBQ – perfect for enjoying long evenings overlooking the coastline.
The Pavilion sits within seven and a half acres of arboretum and wild gardens, right next to the historic St Donat’s Castle. This quiet corner of the Vale of Glamorgan feels wonderfully secluded, yet remains within easy reach of Cardiff, just 25 minutes away. The surrounding Heritage Coast is a haven for walkers, with dramatic clifftop paths, hidden coves and far-reaching sea views waiting to be explored. Nearby, the charming villages and market towns of South Wales offer welcoming pubs, independent shops and local produce, while the coastline itself is rich in wildlife and ever-changing scenery.
Steeped in history and folklore, this area of Wales invites you to immerse yourself in its culture, from ancient castles and coastal trails to its strong artistic heritage reflected throughout your surroundings. The Pavilion forms part of a thoughtfully created retreat by owners Tom and Paula, whose shared passion for craftsmanship, design and the Welsh landscape is evident in every detail. Drawing on backgrounds in timber framing, art and design, they have created a space that feels both considered and welcoming, with a real sense of connection to its surroundings.
Every corner of the site has a story to tell, from the arboretum and wild gardens to the carefully selected works of local artisans and makers. There is a strong sense of cwtch here – the Welsh feeling of warmth, comfort and belonging, making it easy to settle in and truly unwind. Whether you’re seeking a romantic break, a creative retreat or simply time to switch off by the sea, The Pavilion offers a unique and peaceful base in one of Wales’ most captivating and quietly lesser-known corners.
