A cosy bolthole for two in the heart of Dartmoor - enjoy a weekend break and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

With stunning views down the River Dart and over to the ever changing landscape of Dartmoor beyond, Fisherman’s Nook is a detached, traditional granite barn, which has been converted to provide a comfortable and welcoming home from home. Tastefully furnished and well-equipped, the property is ideal for those looking for a quiet and convenient base. During your stay, there is much to see and do. Widecombe-in-the-Moor offers two excellent pubs, serving locally sourced food, the world-famous church known as ’Cathedral on the Moors’, a National Trust shop, post office, gift shops and several tea rooms. Castle Drogo, a National Trust property, is the last castle built in England, and along with many other National Trust properties, is within easy reach. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Dartmoor offers rock tors, wild ponies, exquisite walks, horse riding, fishing, cycling, falconry and golf at Bovey Castle. Within 8 miles are the picturesque villages of Ashburton, Chagford and Moretonhampstead, with historic inns, excellent pubs, tea rooms, antique shops, an independent fishmongery, tennis courts and Miniature Pony Centre. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and a wonderful welcome pack left for us to cover us for at least 3 days of breakfasts. The fishermans nook is lovely with a stunning view from the bedroom window of the surrounding moor and river. There are some lovely walks around the area if you like walking or take your dog with you . It's a very quiet and peaceful little cottage and the only sound you will hear is the odd car going over the cattle grid up the road , other than that it's the birds singing and the sound of the river . It's a drive to the nearest shops and pubs but if you take enough supplies with you then it's not a problem , but we enjoyed the driving as we found some lovely little villages with farm shops for our supplies ..we will be recommending this lovely little cottage as it was perfect for us ..

This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country. The owner of the cottage was very welcoming and friendly and has thought of everything thing that we may have needed during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Amazing! We had a wonderful time! Our plan was to have a stay at a nice cottage takes some walks etc and enjoy our third year anniversary. But it exceeded our expectations! It was a beautiful location right near a stream, the most stunning scenery in England after visiting Penzance, Cornwal & Cumbria in the last year I can hands down say this was better for views, great rolling hills! The cottage was beautifully presented. Very well stocked, and relatively modern. The owner was extremely accommodating and we would be very happy to stay again. Thoroughly enjoyed! We didn’t want to leave!

We arrived to find Danny waiting for us. The accommodation was really comfortable and well fitted out, you felt you were in someone's home rather than a holiday cottage. The added bonus was a selection of food supplied for us which was extremely generous. The cottage is well placed within the national park, to enjoy some really good days out whether it be walking or sight seeing. The cottage is isolated from local amenities so you need to be prepared in advance, but overall this accommodation is definitely on our list to return to.
