This is a very well-laid out and spacious cottage in a very peaceful location with a wonderful view. We love the local area - it is excellent for biking and walking, with lovely local beaches and lots of interesting day trips. It is very relaxing to sit on the patio, gazing at the scenery making friends with the horses.

The best thing about Galloway View is the outstanding view towards Big Water of Fleet! But the rest is very good too. It was very clean and well laid out; there is plenty of room for two couples not to get in each other's way; everything was in good condition; there's plenty of parking space. We really enjoyed watching the horses in the adjacent field, and the stars! On a clear night they are incredible, and there is little or no light pollution when on the decking. Be aware that it's a bit of a walk to any local facilities (shops, pubs) in Gatehouse, but we were happy to walk or drive, and there are plenty of places to eat/drink there or a little further afield. There are lots of things to do (with a bit of a drive) if the weather's bad (we were lucky, only had one rainy day, really), If we have one small criticism, it's that it was lacking a few finishing touches - a hook to put clothes on and a small bin in the bathroom, would have been very useful, for instance; the information pack needed a proper update - rather than an additional sheet. The sort of things you'd sort out if you stayed there yourselves. But tiny things, really, and nothing that spoiled a lovely week away.

Beautiful views from a spacious lodge. Big bedrooms and showers. Hosts very prompt in trying to sort a minor problem. They were also great in welcoming us by phone and personally.Very clean lodge but maybe internal windows could have done with a bit of a clean....lots of finger prints etc.. only minor issue but we did look out of them a lot. Not many nice restaurants nearby. Gather is a must with the most amazing views but closes at 5 in school time. Galloway cafe great for breakfast and cakes. Thanks for a fabulous week... sunshine every day and long walks directly from the lodge. Perfect.
