Just perfect to ease those aching muscles after a day of fell walking on the adjacent Blencathra. The property has a small enclosed garden area with artificial grass and patio furniture so you can sit out and relax. On the ground floor you will find a comfortable bedroom and a shower room, whilst on the lower ground floor, there is an open plan living/dining room featuring an electric recliner sofa and armchair with views across to the northern Lake District Fells, great to relax in after a day of adventure. The kitchen has been finished to a very good standard and offers everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Threlkeld is a small village just off the A66 which is the main route between Penrith and Keswick. Almost directly opposite is Keswick Golf Club, so if you fancy a round while you are away, you couldn’t be much closer. The quaint villages of Threlkeld and Scales, along with a couple of local pubs offering great food and local cask ales, are both just a mile away. The property is 5 miles from the vibrant Lake District town of Keswick, which is brimming with great restaurants, pubs serving local craft ales, an excellent range of shopping experiences and some memorable tourist attractions. If you fancy something a bit different, then why not visit the Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil. The Puzzling Place, which is full of mind-boggling optical illusions, is also worth a visit. If you like culture, you could try the Theatre by the Lake, with its enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater, which offers award winning performances in drama and arts.

If you like walking or cycling, you are surrounded by some of the most challenging and iconic fells in the area, as well as a number of less challenging walking routes suitable for people who like sightseeing without the strain. Keswick is at the northern end of Derwentwater, one of the area’s iconic lakes offering watersports, and is a great base and starting point for many an adventure. You can tick off a few of Wainwright’s 214 Lakeland Fells, including Skiddaw, Blencathra and Helvellyn within a few miles radius. For your next Lake District escape, with your own private hot tub, look no further than Shepherds Bield. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.
Shepherd’s Bield can be booked together with Harrison’s Lodge (UK1259), Lucy’s Lodge (UK1260), Grajo Lodge (UK1284), Darci’s Lodge (UK1297), Derwent Dale Cottage (UK1334), Brackendale (UK1335), Doddick Chase Cottage (UK1363) and The Rocking Lodge (UK11517) to accommodate up to 30 guests.

On the cottages website it said it didn't have no WiFi but when I got there they did along with a smart tv. Quiet location you are left alone. Signs to the cottage you are staying at should be posted clearly as there's loads of cottages around the vicinity. The shower could be better it kept moving with the blast of the water, hot water was timed so if u wanted to have a shower outside of those times water would be cold. Instructions on how to use things etc. Should have been provided. Hot tub was great, it had speakers but didn't know to use them as no instructions given. Otherwise this place was brilliant nice to escape and relax in. Would been better if it had a freezer to put frozen food in.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and the lounge recliner chairs were a delight. However on the downside the access to the cottage looked awful it was tucked away on a rough Farm track. The bedroom was the worst room it lacked any satisfactory hanging for your clothes the metal rail was awful . The bed was reasonably comfy and the pillows nice and soft. The old dressing table had no mirror or chair to enable my wife to sit and dry her hair plus there was no power point near. The bathroom was nice with a choice of two shower heads , towels were good size and nice and warm in the morning from the large towel rail. The kitchen was good well fitted out with all the necessary utensils ,the fridge lacked a freezer compartment. The hot tub was good but it's location at the back of the house was poor. No information provided on local services or attractions. Constant barking dogs !!.

We enjoyed our recent stay at Shepherd's Bield. This is a basic, small cottage which seems newly furnished, carpeted etc and has a hot tub. Without the hot tub, I would struggle to recommend for the following reasons: No welcome from the owner upon arrival nor even a knock on the door to see if all was ok during our stay - we did not even know what the owner looked like. I appreciate this is a working farm and the owners are busy but they are running the cottages as a business and a little customer service would be nice. We were cold at night due to the fact there were no extra blankets provided. We were only provided with one bath towel each - when you shower, use the hot tub, then shower again, there is no way towels can be dried in time. No nice little extras - no shower gel, minimal washing up liquid, toilet rolls. There was a dead animal hanging from the roof of the barn opposite the cottage. Having said this, the location is great, with lovely views. The cottage is modern and clean and the kitchen is well equipped. The hot tub is brilliant although due to the fact it's not been placed on a flat surface, it was sloping to one side. I would recommend it because of the location, the price, the views and the hot tub.

Absolutely perfect stay at Shepherds Bield! Accommodation was spotless, perfect location to access some amazing walks, lovely pub a short walk down the road and the hot tub was perfect at the end of a long day! The views were beatiful, and can be enjoyed while having a cup of tea in bed! Can't recommend enough! Thanks!

Cottage was lovely, very clean and new, brand new fitted bathroom and kitchen, heating system worked very well, only downside was that it could have done with a DVD player to watch films on of an evening, and maybe a swivel umbrella over the hot tub to use when it rained, the hot tub was lovely and warm on the first evening, but the 2nd evening it lost temperature, and was abit look warm,

Lovely property, very clean and comfortable and the hot tub was amazing after some heavy going hill walking. A fixed gazebo or similar over the hot tub would be helpful in case of rain. Location is beautiful, right at the foot of Blencathra (which is well worth a climb to the summit) and easy walking distance to 2 great pubs. Only 10 minutes drive to Keswick for shops, restaurants etc.
